People who answer "Dave" when you ask them what type of music they like I've never heard of this, what? aka DMB or The Dave Matthews Band. Over the past 10 years or so his fans seem to be on a first name basis with him, which is also it's own genre of music. I've been trapped in a few of these conversations, where other fans of the musical genre Dave swarm in and keep going on and on. Being the gent I am I try not to be rude and act somewhat interested, which is probably a mistake. They're similar to Phish fans, but without the damaged brain cells from doing whatever they do at Phish concerts. Makes them more persistent and tougher to shake.

All very good points. I hope I'm not coming across as a music snob. Didn't mean that. I would be happy talking with anyone about music, whatever they listen to. Oh no, not at all. You're posting on an Aerosmith message board, the exact opposite of what I'd consider a musical snob! I think it's great to like new music, unfortunately I think most people tend to listen to the music they listened to in their teenage years. I can't think of the last record I bought from a newer band, so I don't imagine I'd be too interesting to discuss music with. Most passionate music fans would probably view me as part of the problem for the current state of rock music. Oh cool. I just wanted to check. Its hard to know sometimes how I'm am coming across with this communication being over the internet and all. ... and I know I can plug a lot new music on this site but its not because I'm trying to be cool or anything. I just genuinely want the bands who are able to put out quality music in this day and age to succeed. I feel for them, it must be so hard to get their music heard by the right audience. It must be so hard to make a career Rock N Roll with the Internet dwindling album sales and the overall genre losing popularity to others. Please don't feel any pressure to like any bands I post about on here. If you do that's great, but I certainly hope nobody feels obligated to like it or even listen to it. I don't think you are part of the major problems with todays rock scene. You like the old stuff and that's normal. If Rock N Roll is going to stay alive its ultimately today's teenagers that are going to have to accept and support it. It will live or die with them.

Hard to believe anyone is passionate about them, but whatevs. I kinda like Dave Matthews mainly as a guitar player. I have this album of an acoustic set with Tim Reynolds that I play once in awhile. I am a big fan of acoustic playing and he does some interesting stuff. I'm not so much into the style of songs he writes and he's not interesting as a singer/frontman. Oh and there's this ... worlds have collided ...........AAAhhhhhhhhhh

I like the Dave Mathews Band. At one time a lot but still am a pretty big fan. I'll listen to him and enjoy it anytime it comes on the radio or juke box and would gladly see him live again. although I'm not as familiar with the last 10 years of his work as the first.
That said I would never answer what kind of music do you listen to as "Dave" that's just pretty pathetic, yuppie and elitist, and even if I were a big fan that would stay true.
P.S. Check out this version of Cortez The Killer with Warren Haynes it's long but is in fact "Killer":

RE the DMB videos: Not a huge fan, but think i have one CD from way back. Dave is a really good player. The Sweet Emotion cover was very good, very much enjoyed that--and the band seemed to really enjoy it. I wish Aerosmith looked as enthused when they play. The Cortez the Killer was too long for me to watch in its entirety at this late hour, but I skipped through it. Warren is a monster on guitar. He is a total package player and a guitar hero in my book- one of the best. Nothing flashy, but simply full of fire and melody, very emotive with great phrasing, and all over the neck like the guitar is part of him.

Not being able to speed up videos at more than 2x on YouTube. My videos, Mathematics videos... With my videos I just want to make sure everything is fine with the audio throughout the entire thing (because once it wasn't and good thing I keep them unlisted at first, before making sure everything is fine, so that version was never public). As for the others... I'm pretty sure I forgot a ton of things since I graduated and I don't want to miss on on new things or things I may need to be reminded of, but sometimes even 2x feels slow when going through basic stuff.

When people ask if I want to do X (an interview for their magazine, showing up at their meetup, giving a talk at their event, applying for a position at their company) and I say no and then they're like "that's disappointing" or "wow, stone cold" or, even worse, insisting "oh, come on". Ahem. You asked a question, I gave you a clear answer. Be grateful I was straightforward and didn't keep you in limbo. And move on.

When YouTube does this: Well, fuck you too. --- Actually, I feel pissed-off-istic and ranty, so make that YouTube's "localization" in general. Back in the day, there was just one YouTube, the worldwide one. And everything was fine. I watched videos, YouTube learned what I liked, recommended me more of the same. I was great, I discovered a lot of great rock music this way. I loved the concept of YouTube, video content based on what you like, the exact opposite of having stuff you don't like shoved down your throat as traditional television does. Then they had this "great" idea of showing you content based on your location and I started seeing manele, talent shows (think Romanian version of American Idol, only shittier because we didn't even have a Steven to make it bearable), talk shows, "news" about yet another local bimbo who got a breast enlargement... and I kept seeing that shit in spite of never clicking those vids and repeatedly telling YouTube I'm NOT interested (there's an 'x' to remove that recommendation and after you click it, they say they'll tune things to take your feedback into account, except it seems they really don't). It wasn't that bad, I could still select "Worldwide" and didn't get that shit recommended anymore. Even though I had to do it every time manually because it wasn't a setting that was saved to my account, but into my browsing data. Which I clear every time I close the browser for security reasons (yes, I know, I'm maniacal about shit like that). Well, then the "Worldwide" option was gone, so you couldn't opt out of content based on a location anymore. Fortunately, you could still change your automatically detected location manually, so I started picking places using alphabets I can't understand because... well, what I can't understand feels easier to ignore and less disturbing. Then the YouTube redesign came. With infinite scrolling, which made the footer, if there still was one after the redesign, inaccessible. With the old design, the option to change content location was in the footer. After the redesign, this option was nowhere to be found! You can still opt out of using the new look, which is what I repeatedly do right now. And always tell them that not having the option to stop them from shoving shit content down my throat based on my location is the reason for my switch. But at some point this won't be allowed anymore. Also, the new design comes with a dark theme option. Which you can't get using the old design. Trying to switch to the dark theme automatically switches you to the new design. In case I haven't mentioned this before, I prefer dark, light themes often feels too tiring for my eyes and it's sometimes hard to find a white mouse cursor on a white page. Why not use something like Tor? Because at this point, it's a huge security risk if you're not tech savvy enough. And while I can see red flags easier than the average dumbass, I can't compete with some of the evil, but brilliant minds out there. I see people posting about shit they (almost) fell for and I know I would have fallen for it too. Also, logging into Google accounts using Tor is one big pain in the rear. I've repeatedly been locked out of accounts because Google detected "suspicious" activity, been bombarded with "someone has your password and tried to sign into your account" emails - yes, dumbass, that was me trying to get around you shoving shit down my throat based on where I live! Yes, I've been able to get past that, but it's such a hassle... Rant over.

Web pages that are in PDF format, which seems to be happening more and more lately. I click a link and now I have the damn thing downloaded to my desktop. I didn't want a lifetime commitment, I just wanted to read the page.

People leaking my email on social media.
Vanity sizing. When something tent-sized is labelled XS and it's the smallest size available. Don't you have some clown paint so that I look like the complete circus?

When the pump nozzle on the moisturizer dries up a little, despite constant cleanings, and gets partially clogged. Then you put your hand under it, press ever so gently, and moisturizer goes wildly squirting into the air, on your shirt, and everywhere else like a porn star on payday.

When people tell me this or that went wrong because I listen to rock music. And that I'd be happier if I didn't listen to music that promotes sadness... Um, what? "The only message is we only do it for the fun" promotes sadness?! Yeah, it's subliminal... Dude...Yes, he does have a cat.

People who are absolutely miserable every day at work because they hate their job so much, and then talk behind everyone's back as if they are the problem.
Generally I just avoid these people, but you can feel the tension when they are near, regardless of their attempts to cover it.
