I am going to see Guns N Roses with the Pretenders Friday at Hershey. Not really sure what to expect except for the fact that Axl will not sound like Axl. Kinda not sure what to expect out of the Pretenders. Was never really familiar with them outside their two or three radio songs. Regardless, I was kinda floored by the size of the GnR setlist. 28 songs with a over 3 hour playtime.
I am heartbroken over Lahaina. My family has owned a condo in the area since the mid 90's, and many of the best memories of my life are there. It's hard to wrap my head around the fact that the entire town is just...
I saw Guns N Roses and the Pretenders last night. The Pretenders put on a good show and Chrissie still has that fantastic voice. She "took a request" from the audience and pulled a song out she said they hadn't performed in years which shocked me. Brass in Pocket. It's like their 3rd big hit. Shocked to hear they don't perform it.
Don't know how to discuss Guns without discussing the diminishing voice of Axl Rose. It was rough. At first I thought they were having sound issues the way his mic goes in and out. Then I realized it is probably the sound guys trying to save our ear drums. Highlight for me was hearing Bad Obsession and Rocket Queen as fun as always.
I don't think I will be getting anymore Guns tickets.

🥺
I thought of this:
"Lord I must be dreaming What else could this be Everybody's screaming Running for the sea"
That's not too shabby. I wonder if any of the new material was recorded with Charlie. If not, they've captured his sound quite well. Cool vid too. I love the Stones.
Why does it always kinda bug me when Mick plays guitar though?
I should move my ass into the kitchen and make the batter for the ricciarelli. I fucking love stuff with almonds, have I mentioned that? It's just that I'm exhausted...

I... don't really have any words to describe how the latest Aerosmith news feel other than maddening.
There is of course relief that I couldn't have it my way so I'm now not in the situation of having spent an obscene amount of money for me on this and having traveled... only to see my show taken away from me with just a day in advance.
But then there's this immense despair over the lack of control.
When I was in uni and we had to do group projects, I did the work for everyone. I couldn't magically make everyone else do a good enough job for a ten, but I could do the work instead of them so they don't drag my grades down. I could do something, it was in my hands.
When traveling for concerts, there are just so many things I don't have any control over. And I have to trust that somehow, they'll work out fine. But there's always this fear that things can go wrong and there's nothing I can do about it.
All the cancellations and postponements of the past few years (not just Aerosmith) have kept eroding my capacity to trust and have fed the fear. And there's such a big conflict now between the desire of seeing concerts that I still have... and the distrust and the fear. And it's maddening.

I don't even remember if I've ever posted this before, but I took this photo almost a year ago when I went to Tilburg to see Saxon. There was this sign above a bar door probably less than 50m away from the venue.
