Always interested in this topic. Who knows inspiration might hit from what someone posts here. Why don't we share what's on the dinner table tonight? Got a favorite recipe or want to know how to make something, ask here.
I'll start. I'm currently smoking a pork shoulder that I had brining in beer for one day and dry rubbed and wrapped in plastic for another. Making pulled pork out of it.

What time should I be there? I love pulled pork. I'm trying to figure out what's for dinner - I see a whole chicken and a salmon defrosting on the counter.

That's an interesting combo. We know about turducken. Maybe is a salcken?

From what I heard if done right salmon stuffed chicken could be pretty good.

We went out tonight. Worked all day in the garage putting new shelves together, fixing a small shed so rats can't get in, and other fun things. No one felt like cooking.

First thought that came to mind is that this thread should have a disclaimer: we're not responsible for what may happen if you decide to try other people's crazy ideas. I'm not into cooking and my taste buds get along better with more unprepared stuff so I'll always choose the actual fruit over a fruit salad or the just the actual piece of meat instead of something with meat, but sometimes I just feel like experimenting in the kitchen like I experiment with creating visual stuff - try this, try that... most of the times with results that lead to jokes for weeks after... Tip #1: there's probably a reason why, when you read the ingredients lists for Christmas sweets, spices are in such small quantities. My first time trying to recreate something I had in Berlin... I used a heaped spoon of ginger powder.

We had the almost 2 year old grand daughter for the weekend so it is always fun to introduce her to new foods and see her reaction. Saturday night I fed her party pies for dinner because she had grazed (picked at cheese and kabana, chocolate milkshake etc) all afternoon because she didn't eat her lunch. She gets fed around 5.30pm so she is bathed and in her pj's by 6 -6.30pm because it is getting cool at night here. She hardly ate and I knew by the time we ate that she would be doing her puppy dog impersonation and begging food. I had crispy skin salmon with chips (not sure what you call them, they aren't fries and aren't wedges, somewhere in between)and asparagus, brocollini and beans all drizzled with hollandaise sauce, hubby had a T-bone, same veg and no hollandaise, he hates salmon and hollandaise. Much to my surprise she ate everything offered except the salmon and the T-bone. We had a store bought French vanilla cheesecake for dessert which she also liked, actually more than liked, you couldn't take a bite for yourself before she was tapping your leg and saying hey and standing there with her mouth open for the next spoonful. Sunday night we had meatloaf, not something I make as a rule except for the grand kids and all her fave mashed veggies, mashed potato, mashed pumpkin, pureed cauliflower and more beans, she ate the lot, hubby on the other hand was like meatloaf yuck. Dessert was an ice cream, not sure if you have Cadbury Bounty bars (a type of candy bar) there, they are coconut, this ice cream is bounty flavoured, I don't like it, so hubby spent 5 minutes spooning his dessert into that little begging open mouth, before he said here you feed her I am going to get some of my own lol. Monday night (tonight) no kids, so I am trying a recipe I haven't made before. Veal mignon with mushroom butter, here a normal mignon would be fillet mignon, a medallion of fillet steak wrapped in bacon, but it also can mean a medallion of any meat with a hole cut in the centre and filled with something, this veal one has a hole filled with mushroom butter. Idaho potato as a side, mushroom cups stuffed with the minced veal from the hole mixed with onion and bell pepper and I haven't decided on the greens or other veg yet.

I'm happy to report that it was not salmon stuffed chicken. They were both defrosting for separate dinners. Last night was shredded wheat. I put the cereal in a bowl, and then evenly poured vanilla Silk Milk over the top to ensure the perfect amount of moisture for each bale of wheat.

Tonight will be chili. However…..
Went camping over the long weekend with some very hedonistic campers and ate very well. Sirloin steak and beacon (cooked in a Dutch oven), Wild Boar, Tuna steaks, stuffed peppers, sausage with green & red peppers and onion (also cooked in a Dutch oven), sautéed mushrooms, cheesy potatoes as well as hamburgers and hot dogs. All of these were cooked on the campfire with the exception of the Dutch oven items because that was cooked in the camp fire.

I'm not a fan of cooking, but my husband and I both have heart disease in our families so we try not to eat out during the week. We both work at least 10 hours a day, so I have a roster of quick and healthy meals. Tonight was a crock pot with chicken breasts, white beans, roasted red pepper, swiss chard and rosemary.

Leftover crockpot boneless bbq chicken from last night. Not bad, but last night was better.
