MFAD wan't the album the fans wanted. When we said we wanted an old school record we didn't mean 5 members of the band record it in the studio together only...although that was a start. We meant it has to have the sound and feel of a real blues based rock album! That's what it lacked. When Steven writes songs with Diane Warren and Carrie Underwood and has people like Johnny Depp play on the album that is not the mark of an old school Aerosmith album. This album sucked because they tried to be all things to all fans. Instead, they made an album that was nothing to anyone. Sure, there were a few good songs, but the bad songs were really bad and killed any chance this album had of being good. Take the blinders off Joe and realize the album wasn't as good as you think it was. Steven Tyler didn't write with Diane Warren, Jack Douglas suggested that Diane Warren song and they all decided to record it. I don't necessarily think it was a bad idea but I would have released that song before the lead single and synch it with a movie or tv serial to generate some hype and then put it on the deluxe version or as a bonus track. The song with Carrie is bad, they just shouldn't have done it or at least should have tried to make the most out of that crap promoting it and hoping to get bigger exposure for the album...but in all honesty, musically it's the only low point on the album.

Really? There are a lot of low points on that album. Beautiful, Tell Me (sorry Tom), What Could Have Been Love, Closer and Lover A Lot is just too repetitive to be any good.

Does anyone have the know-how to be able to record this streaming? It would be great to have a good-quality memento of what has been a (mostly) awesome tour. We're working on it I have a program called aTube Catcher, you record direct to your computer with it including live streams, but not all sites. Youtube, google, daily motion and yahoo usually work fairly well for me and other sites are hit and miss. Some of my American friends have more luck with US based streams than I do. I get lots of lag in live streams being in Australia so I would rather record and watch it later. One warning though, one version of that program has a virus, I went back to the 2012 version of it for a bit and the latest version of it seems to be fine. My anti-virus picked it up right away. Maybe Krawhitham can check it out and see if they like it.

I don't get this "repetitive" thing when most of aerosmith's songs are simple catchy and repetitive. You guys complain about sappy ballads and well..I think tell me and closer are two atypical ballads for them and brought some variety to the package while I agree that WCHBL and We All Fall Down are more simple and predictable although I find them beatiful songs anyway. I really thing that the most annoying flaws of MFAD are the lyrics, the tracklist and little details such as some bridge, the length of a couple of songs and maybe some vocals which I would have preferred to be different.

We should create a new section of the forum where Pillis can defend MFAD all day long.

Bart is our Official Ambassador to DWM, but MFAD is still looking for one...

And remember, we are about, "to each his/her own." It makes for interesting discussions and respectful disagreements. Pillis should continue spreading his affection for MFAD while I will raise the Rocks banner until my dying day. Tomass, you should put on a GYWs shirt and put up a new picture for your avatar. I wonder what album makes Coops top of the list?

How bout making Ruts my official baby? My real baby is Rocks, but it looks like it's already been taken. But the more I listen to Ruts, the more unappreciated and underrated I feel it is. Imo, it's just slightly behind Rocks, Toys and GYW, but within 1-2 Kate Upton pubes of those.

I think MFAD can defend itself quite good, I just think that because of internet, forums, facebook etc...people can share their opinions in a second literally when they are listening to the album for the very first time, so to me it's easy building up an opinion on the spur of the moment while years and years ago, people used to buy the albums to actually listen to the them because there was no streaming or whatever. So I think that even when draw the line, night in the ruts and all of the other records came out, some people maybe had the same negative opinion about them but couldn't share them like we do today. I think that music is getting way more disposable these days not always because of the poor quality (although I have to agree that nowadays is very rare to hear a good album from start to finish) but because of the way we approach music in the first place and how labels promote their artists. Today it's all about singles, youtube views, first week sales, radio spins, sponsorships, collaborations, tours and merch....the actual album is the last thing to focus on for a big label. This is not because of major labels are "evil" or want to destroy the music industry, it's simply because of a huge economic crisis that started who knows how many years ago and people don't buy albums as they used to do, so money has to come from different sources...there's always an artistic side and a business side, you cannot ignore one of them otherwise you'll end up flopping on every level. I think MFAD originally had both business and artistic plans which were quite good but for many reasons it was all poorly developed and executed, especially on the business side and this, in my opinion, hugely affected people's opinion. I am 100% sure that with different singles, different tracklist, more promotion, no RS streaming, more new songs performed live and a more tangible success many people would have enjoyed the album a little more.
