Well, the church is 100% wrong on this one. The scientific illiteracy expressed in those articles you've posted is staggering. A teenager with a high-school education in biology would know better. Anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of biology can see why the claim that cells are injected doesn't add up and doesn't make sense. That claim is 100% false, and the Vatican should be ashamed for being so dishonest (if, indeed, they did make that claim - and I doubt that the Vatican really did say any of that, since the official word from them seems to be far more levelheaded) Dishonesty isn't Christianlike behavior. Jesus wouldn't approve of LYING TO PEOPLE just to push a certain agenda about vaccines. The information in the articles that you posted is 100% false, and it's plain as day to anyone with even a basic education in biology. I don't see how LYING TO PEOPLE would be something that the church would support? Also, no, the church did not lead the world in the field of astronomy. When Galileo went public with his findings about a non-geocentric universe, he was threatened with excommunication and the Vatican wasn't able to admit that Galileo had been right until 1991. Many Christians still struggle to accept Charles Darwin's discoveries. So, your assertion that the church has somehow been at the forefront of scientific discovery is untrue. If anything, the church has opposed the steady march of scientific progress.

aaeerroo something you will probably approve of...in Australia you can't enrol a child in school unless they are fully immunised, the only out is a doctors certification stating that it would detrimental to the child to be immunised. Most vaccines are synthesised from horse serum and some kids are allergic to it and it does them more harm than good. As a mother of 2, grandmother of 4 (and counting) and godmother of 6, I am all for immunising. One of my godsons almost died from being immunised and that was because of an allergic reaction to the horse serum not the actual contents of the vaccine. (and before Darryl chips in that I am an aetheist, I use godmother in a liberal sense, via naming ceremonies where the term is also used rather the religious ceremonies)
I think the most part of why I agree is because I am old enough to remember polio and TB. People got lax here in Australia before it became mandatory and a lot of children died of whooping cough. I usually hate being told to do anything (mandatory) but on this one I agree.

I had all mine for the same reasons. no shots, no school. Nearly died from Whooping cough as an infant anyway so no arguement about childhood immunizations.. Had my shots in the navy also to travel overseas. Nearly died from the triple typhoid shot and they misplaced my shot record and I went before the captain to plead them not to repeat the shot. I choose not to get a flu shot. My choice. My risk. I want everyone else to get the shot though. I am ocd during flu season and have been lucky. I am not a breeder. Fine for everyone else. Got to have new people, I get it. But.....if some dingbat didn't have their child immunized for measles and some loved one caught it from them and died I would make it my mission in life to track the parents down and what I would do to them should never be posted in a public forum. You CAN get measles after the shot. I think it was '63 to '68 that they figured out the shots given then were not working. Someone with measles can infect hundreds of people for 8 days without symptoms. Measles stays alive and active for 2 hours after the person leaves the room. Going from 500 deaths per year to a dozen is a good thing.
Thanks Zen for changing your font to a larger font and getting rid of the italics. I have been skipping over your posts because the tiny dark violet italics on black was just too hard to read.

Thanks Zen for changing your font to a larger font and getting rid of the italics. I have been skipping over your posts because the tiny dark violet italics on black was just too hard to read. Thank Coop for that! I asked him how to save that without having to do it every time and he said, if you don't mind can you etc etc, if you don't, I think I will need some glasses. I was a bit sooky about it for a few seconds since it never worked in AF1, but he said you can keep your beloved purple just make it bigger and lose the italics! Apparently it's working, and I never knew people couldn't read it, sorry.
