OK, there's no way I'm wasting walnuts to clean anything. Screw that, I want to eat them!!! Give me all the walnuts! Cutting ice cream in two = SACRILEGE!!! I'll do the same to you with the same knife if you do it in front of me, I swear... Plus I don't really get this whole concept of splitting when it comes to ice cream. Also, I'm terribly jealous, the interesting Ben & Jerry's varieties are so hard to find here, I know just one store that carries the "Core" range (Blondie Brownie, Karamel Sutra...) and they cost the equivalent of about $15 one! OK, total random fact of the day from me: a guy called Lungu has just been elected president of Zambia and this caught my eye because in Romanian, "lungu" would mean "the long one".

Okay, since we're doing mind riddles, here's one my operations research prof at Penn State gave the class back in 1984 as an extra credit question.
A man is talking to a friend. He tells him that he has 3 sons. The product of their ages is 36. The sum of their ages is equal to the house number across the street. How old are they, he asks the friend? The friend looks out the window across the street and replies, "I don't have enough information." The man then replies, "Okay, the oldest one has red hair." The friend then has sufficient information and he answers the question correctly.
So how old are the 3 sons (assume all ages are positive whole numbers and any ages are possible)? I'll check back in a day or so to see if anybody gets it, and can then give the correct answer if not. This isn't a trick question. There's one and only one correct answer given the information exactly as provided.

I'll go that they are triplets so 3, 12 and the house number is 15

2, 2 and 9 PS, I hate both math and you for making me figure this out. Possible ages 1,2,3 - sum 1 1 36 - 38 1 2 18 - 21 1 3 12 - 16 1 4 9 - 14 1 6 6 - 13 2 2 9 - 13 2 3 6 - 11 3 3 4 - 10 Because the sum didn't help the friend, 13 is the only possible correct sum. Because he has an 'oldest son', the only correct choice is 2, 2, and 9. Of course, this logic is technically flawed, because even with twins, there is always one who is birthed first and therefore the oldest of the two.

When ages are only reported as a whole number, it's possible for two twins to be the same age, or even for two sons that are not twins to be the same age (such as when they were born 10 months apart - then they would be the same age for 2 months out of every year). That just means the husband/wife were extraordinary horny back then
