"7th grade was the best 5 years of my life" At my first university, they had a saying "the first ten years are difficult, until you get to third year". It even rhymes in Romanian... Primii zece ani sunt grei, Până ajungi în anul trei. So not true. But I can see why. The first years probably seemed difficult to most people because... well, funny enough, subjects were simple. For the most part, stuff that should have already been known or not much above the level any student getting in should have had. So professors actually demanded that students did labs, homework and exams were for real. But starting with third year, there was a lot of stuff that was completely new, most people were completely clueless, the gap between the real level and the desired one was too big already, most professors just didn't care anymore and a lot of exams were just so the exam papers to justify grades existed. It didn't matter what was in those papers or where they came from. So yeah, that thing may have felt true for the lazy students. For anyone actually interested in learning, third year was when the nightmare began...

"Everyone dies to break somebody's heart"
From this song:
A distant cousin died today. He was about 10 years older than me, so early forties. His mom is devastated, she called my mom because they used to work together and my dad is her second cousin (that's how my parents first met)... and she has nobody closer anymore.
(I'm worried about fucking up other people's lives if something happens to me.)

Is simply stating a fact without actually meaning to communicate anything else old fashioned?
If I say I suck at something after I got asked about it, it doesn't mean I'm upset about it, that it bothers me, that I need to be told I'm great and whoever complained about my lack of skill deserves nasty words. I got asked a question, I gave an honest answer about my lack of skill concerning that thing I don't even care about improving, can we understand that's how things are and move on?

Windows 8 does some pretty nightmarish things you never know of until you actually try switching to Linux. Which is still possible, but not as easy as it used to be.
Just putting that out there.

My wife and I were sitting at a table at her high school reunion, and she kept staring at a drunken man swigging his drink as he sat alone at a nearby table.
I asked her, "Do you know him?" "Yes", she sighed, "He's my old boyfriend. I understand he took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear he hasn't been sober since."
"My God!" I said, "Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?"
And that's when the fight started...

My wife was hinting about what she wanted for our upcoming anniversary. She said, "I want something shiny that goes from 0 to 150 in about 3 seconds."
So I bought her a bathroom scale.
And that's when the fight started......

One year, I decided to buy my mother-in-law a cemetery plot as a Christmas gift...
The next year, I didn't buy her a gift. When she asked me why, I replied, "Well, you still haven't used the gift I bought you last year!"
And that's when the fight started.

Definition of a successful cleaning/ cooking session: haven't set anything on fire... again.
(came close though and it's not over yet, 2 more hours...)
