An omitted verse from the Kinks' song "Give The People What They Want":
"The French Revolution was a crazy scene All those aristocrats getting guillotined The promoters cleaned up The expenses were low An execution costs nothing It's a wonderful show"

Since Easter will be this weekend here... This is what made aliens turn back when they got here: Whoever thought up this chocolate figure didn't consider there is one time bunnies are pink... when you skin them! And I doubt they look this happy about it! --- The answer to the "how much shit can two pigeons produce?" question is "A LOT!"

What do you call a woman who always knows where her husband is? A widow.

Dracula's castle in Romania offers tourists vaccine www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-57049639Saw flyers advertising this last week, looks like it made the news now. I've stayed away from news/ scandal because every time I catch a glimpse of it, it feels like it's just screaming monkeys, but judging by how fast it recently went from extremely difficult to get a vaccine appointment without the good old PCR ("pile, cunoștințe, relații" - they all mean the same, people you know/ you can bribe/ blackmail so that you get what you want) to really easy to get the vaccine without even bothering with an appointment, I'd say it's probably true. Like Austria, we've had only three big vaccination phases. The first one, which started in late December, was for medical personnel and other "essential" people. I put that between quotes because it was heavily abused and a lot of people basically skipped the line. One such famous case is an actor, who is now best known for doing something similar before. About a decade ago, he went on the transplant list for a kidney and got the surgery the very same day he was put on the list. Not only did he get in front other people, but the donor was a child, so a child should have had priority... he basically took a kidney from a child. Now he was a bit more secretive... except he didn't count on his immune system being shit, still catching the virus anyway, ending up in the ICU, reporters going after a hot story and unearthing when he and his wife actually got vaccinated. He was lucky, by the way. About a hundred other people in the same dinosaur age bracket as him and with health issues died from the virus in spite of being vaccinated. The second phase started in mid February - it was for everyone 65+ or with chronic health issues. My dad qualified for this, but it still took weeks before he could get an appointment. He couldn't do it via the website, his family doctor couldn't get an appointment for him either and calling the regional health administration resulted in just being told they don't have doses for him. The third phase (for everybody else) was promised to open in April, but opened earlier, in mid March. And the website crashed as soon as that happened. When I finally managed to book a slot, I made the mistake of picking a place close by. Only to then discover they are only for people under 55, but not women under 40. Then picked another place with a shorter wait list before being able to make an appointment - wait lists at places close by were already over 8K long. That place turned out to have an expired batch and vaccination was paused. You have got to be kitten me! Okay, third time's a charm? This place (in a small satellite town) moved pretty fast at first, I'd be advancing ~50 spots/ day on the wait list. Then it slowed down. Then it slowed down more. I had also heard about being able to show up to places at the end of the daily schedule and ask if they have any doses left. But we had a curfew and... well, if I didn't manage to get vaccinated, then I wouldn't have a paper to prove where I had been, so I'd be good to get fined. So I waited. Then new vaccine shipments came in, the wait list started advancing by about 90 spots/ day and I finally managed to get an appointment for the Tuesday after Easter, though I'd eventually manage to sneak in the Sunday before. One week later, we're having events like the one at the castle, drive-through vaccination events, day and night weekend vaccination marathons... all of these don't even require an appointment anymore. Things sure changed fast over these past two weeks! This part is pure gold
