Back in high school, spring of my junior, when I still went to church (right about the time it started to become a rarity) a lovely young nun from a visiting parish did an interim stint at our parish. I had a terrific early evening of sex with her. I do believe we deflowered on another. I'm certain she did me (no pun intended).

I miss being a kid. Heck, I even miss still being able to pass for a kid.
I miss being able to afford being irresponsible. I miss being allowed to be irresponsible.

I guess I'd rather risk losing my life than risk losing feeling in control.

I was talking to someone, just trying to be polite and not a savage. Trust me, it's not easy, because I am a beast. And, out of a sudden, I hear her say:
"I like bathing."
Me: big eyes. Because, well, me too, but why would you just spurt that out of a sudden? Anyway, be polite, Ana, shower gels is a topic you can damn well talk a lot about, so ask her what kind she likes.
Well, good thing I didn't have the time to carry on with that.
Because then she went on telling me about the latest cake she had "bathed". Baked. Ffs, Ana... she actually said "I like baking."
Whew. Social disaster avoided. This time...

If I'm smiling and seem incredibly serene, but my fingers are on the back of my neck or underneath the sleeve of my other arm... then my fingernails are probably sinking into my flesh as deep as possible.

Everybody's commenting on this today. It's the new Surface Book. It's looks like a beautiful dream! I'm drooling. I want one too. And that scares me. Because I can't afford it. And because a year ago, I would have just shrugged, another fancy overpriced laptop, what's the big deal? For those who don't know, I got a Surface Book last summer from Microsoft. It's the nicest laptop I've ever had. And my first laptop was a Sony VAIO which served me well for over ten years. It's very light. The grab it and lift it between two fingers kind of light. Which may not sound like big deal, but I had a heavy gaming laptop for a while (I'm not a gamer, I bought it for coding WebGL demos). And it was a pain traveling with it. Literally. With the charger, that laptop got to over 10% of my weight. I used to get bruises on my shoulders and my back every time I went anywhere with it. It would only fit in the main compartment of one backpack and it was a pain to have to take it out while traveling. I passed on hours of work just so I wouldn't have to take it out and getting stuff back in at airports after security checks was always so stressful because you never want to be that horribly slow person, but you can't do much about it in the given circumstances. So yeah, getting a very light laptop turned out to be a very big deal. Last time I took the train, I only turned it off when the train stopped at the destination. I didn't have to shove it through a lot of other things in the main compartment, it fits in a secondary compartment where I don't carry much else. It's so easy to just take it out of the backpack and get some work done wherever I may be... Battery life is amazing. I don't think I've ever had to look for a socket to recharge it while on the move with it. Not like I've ever been on a 20h+ flight with this laptop. Only with the Sony one. The materials feel very nice to touch. Even the cables. The key lighting is brilliant. There's just sooo much attention to details. "a little taste, you want it more" I've always been very afraid of this. I've never been in a safe position from a financial point of view, but I didn't get cut off from luxury, even though it was never paid for by me. And I've never really enjoyed it. I always had this warning playing in the back of my head, don't you dare get used to this, Ana, you can't afford it on a regular basis, that's two of your monthly bills in that one shot of Amaretto, your income for half a year in this one night at this fancy hotel. Luxury hotels, that's how I found out what a safe deposit box looks like. I had never seen one before. I thought it was a microwave the first time I saw one in a hotel room. I had trouble figuring out how to turn on the lights, the shower, flush the toilet in some places. It all felt so alien to me, yet I was there. Speaker dinners/ parties/ activities were so frustrating because of this that I stopped attending altogether. I'm tired/ nauseated/ there was a loud kid on the plane - every stupid thing that happened on the way there became magnified so it would be a good enough reason to avoid the world. The well-off world. Then people bitched and moaned about me being a "rock star" because I'd just arrive, lock myself in the hotel room, show up for my talk and leave. I've somehow always managed to remain very much aware of what I can and can't afford. Yet now here I am, wanting the new Surface Book.

^I'll say this... This week, I wore a skirt outside for the first time since the Tom Keifer concert in early October 2015. Primarily because I came to Germany by plane and I wanted an outfit that had nothing metallic so I'd have no problem at the security checks in airports. So skirt + leggings it was. On the first day and also on the second because the jeans I took were a new pair that still have all those tags attached and, well, since I flew here, I obviously didn't take any scissors (by the way, do you think I can find scissors at the hotel reception?). I have been stared at, hollered at, wolf whistled at, stopped and invited to places, grabbed and kissed by surprise in the middle of Munich's main street. So I wasn't exactly delighted when, on returning to the hotel tonight, on the street where my hotel is, the whole sidewalk was occupied by three Arab guys. Well, I'm not getting off the sidewalk to go around them. The sole of my sandals can be noisy and I made sure it was. They heard, got out of the way, apologised in German for blocking the path and that was it. Well... you don't always know when you should keep your guard up and when you shouldn't.
Bonus confession: I was returning from another hotel. Where I met Brad.

haha...just another day in the life of Ana. Congrats, that's awesome! PS: I've never once grabbed a random woman and kissed her on the streets. Maybe I'll give this a go. I'm guessing in America that would earn me a quick knee to the nads though.

Ok, this is an odd one....I live very close to the hospital and once or twice a week I hear the emergency helicopter flying directly over my house. I don't know why, but I absolutely love the sound of it. Something about the 'whump-whump-whump' mixed with the rapid 'b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b' all in a tone so deep you can feel it in your chest. So, I always smile a little when I hear it, but at the same time I feel extremely guilty because I know someone is having a very bad day and I am getting a little joy out of it. So, my apologies to all those taking that ride they never wanted to take. But I still love the sound!

^ I live right up the street from a hospital and am very familiar with the sound. It always reminds me of Apocalypse Now!
I have to admit I never thought of the day the person going to the hospital is having but certainly will from now on.

Today's confession: I had a senior moment. I was playing Zelda and a song came in my head. I started singing "And I'm going dowwwwwwn....all the waaaayyyy" I was thinking to myself, what song is that anyway? "Going down"...must be Love in An Elevator, ♪ "Livin' it up when I'm going down.." ♪ ♫ yeah, that's it!! So I tried fitting in exactly where it fit. Um, it didn't fit, because that's "Highway to Hell"
