Okay, I'll get the ball rolling.
Powerwolf have a song called Extatum et Oratum, which I initially thought it was "Extatum Mentholatum". In my defense, these guys have written some pretty funny shit over the years, including a song called Resurrection by Erection, which is about a dead guy coming back to life after getting a blowjob from an angel. "When you wake up from the dead and the angels give a head" is an actual lyric, okay? So having some "menthol" in there didn't seem so far-fetched, you know?

I can't tell you over the years how many songs I listened to as a kid and over the years realized what I thought I heard was wrong. Now that this thread is created I'll be damned if I can remember one of them. Brain fart!!

Not a funny misheard lyric, but in Tom Petty's 'American Girl' there is a line that goes "She stood alone on the balcony". For years I thought he was saying "She stood alone on the banks of Maine" as in, the Atlantic ocean shoreline, which I have done on more than one occasion in Maine.

"could lie out dirty seeds" instead of "cut out the disease"

War Pigs by Black Sabbath. When I was a kid, I always thought Ozzy was saying " OH LOYGEL" instead of " OH LORD YEAH". I guess I thought it was some kinda funky English guys name!

Because I finally got to watch the lyric video... Sabaton - Blood of Bannockburn I thought he was singing "and the placebo [unintelligible] coronation" instead of "and then we'll see to Bruce's coronation". Also "bagpipes" (hey, it made sense in context!) instead of "pikes", "ready" instead of "rally" and probably more minor stuff like that. But "placebo" was a facepalm-worthy one...

Before seeing the lyrics, I used to think the "an awful job" part of Nobody's Fault was "a pork chop" instead.

Metallica - Halo On Fire - thought it was "we both feel the need" instead of "but both shall we bleed"
- heard it as "vast is desire", but apparently it's "fast is desire"
- "unto which of you shall I surrender?" sounded more like "[unintelligible, maybe "born to"?] meet your due, shall I surrender?"
- thought "prayers cannot get through" was "friends cannot get through"
- and "wicked perfection" sounded like "begin perfection" to me initially

In The Star Spangled Banner, for the longest time I thought "Through the perilous fight" was "Through the barrel of spice". Made no sense, but that's what it sounded like to me. Also, in Back in Black, I used to think "Let loose from the noose" was "Let loose, mama noose"

If these lyrics are accurate, and I'm not saying they are not, I've had about 90% of this song wrong forever. I'll put in yellow what I thought, although I always knew in a vague kind of way that most of my lyrics don't make sense and that I was wrong. Pressure pushing down on me Pressing down on you No man ask for ( No man must fall) Under pressure That brings a building down ( cause we're feelin' down) Splits a family in two ( to a family in tune) Puts people on streets ( we sleep on the streets) Um ba ba be Um ba ba be De day da Ee day da - that's okay It's the terror of knowing ( It's so terrible knowing) What the world is about ( What this world is about) ...close enough Watching some good friends ( friend) ...close enough Screaming 'Let me out' Pray tomorrow gets me higher ( til tomorrow brings me higher) Pressure on people people on streets ( beeble bop beeble, beeble bot beats) Day day de mm hm Da da da ba ba Okay Chipping around - kick my brains around the floor ( kickin' around with my brains on the floor) These are the days it never rains but it pours ( these are the days that never ended before) Ee do ba be Ee da ba ba ba Um bo bo Be lap People on streets ee da de da de People on streets ee da de da de da de da It's the terror of knowing What this world is about Watching some good friends Screaming 'Let me out' Pray tomorrow - gets me higher Higher High Pressure on people people on streets Turned away from it all like a blind man Sat on a fence but it don't work Keep coming up with love ( keep comin' up with pressure) But it's so slashed and torn ( it's so slash controlled) Why - why - why? Love love love love love Insanity laughs under pressure we're breaking ( We sat on a love song with pressure we loved) Can't we give ourselves one more chance Why can't we give love that one more chance Why can't we give love give love give love give love Give love give love give love give love give love Because love's such an old fashioned word ( cause our's such an old fashioned world) And love dares you to care for The people on the (People on streets) edge of the night And loves (People on streets) dares you to change our way of Caring about ourselves ( living about us) This is our last dance This is our last dance This is ourselves Under pressure Under pressure Pressure

The Police "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da"
I used to think they were saying "Well good good good, a-bye bye bye, that's all I want to say to you"

Remember the commercial a few years back about the couple arguing over the closing line of the chorus in Rocket Man? Is it something like "burning up a fuse up here alone"?

Speaking of ole Reggie, what is he singing in Goodbye Yellow Brick Road?
I hear:
"So goodbye yellow brick road Where the dogs of society howl You can't let me in your penthouse I'm going back to my plow Back to the blah blah blah out of the wood With hearts that blah blah blah"

The Police "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da" Oh, this reminded me of another one! So... this song was on the radio all the time in the early 90s And the "dee do de de, dee do de de" part... well, I thought it was "viorele, viorele" - "viorele" means "violets" in Romanian.
