I have a weird feeling there might be one of these threads already, but I'm sure Bart will let us know. Either way, always room for more AC/DC appreciation! I don't know when I first heard them, but I know Highway To Hell was the first album of theirs that really hit a home run with me. Back in Black turned out to be even bigger, and somewhere in there I went backwards to Dirty Deeds, which is a great fun album in its own right. Favorite song: Shake a Leg!! We all know it, but here it is anyway. From the ominous opening chords to the breakneck lyrics, to paraphrase the great Bon Scott: "you could say its got it aaaaalllll"

I may have posted this some time ago in another thread, but here it goes.....First time I saw AD/DC was in 1978 at a Day on the Green (Festival Show). AC/DC was the opening act on a five band ticket. In order of appearance: AC/DC, Van Halen, Pat Travers Band, Foreigner, and Aerosmith. $14.00 for the ticket folks! Anyway, I attended with three friends. None of us had heard AC/DC at the time (remember, no internet back then). On the way to the stadium in Oakland one of my friends said he heard AC/DC was comprised of two female and two male singers, like ABBA. We thought that was an odd paring with the rest of the billing, but thought nothing more about it. Uh, we were in for quite a surprise. Loudest band on the docket that day. Overall an absolutely great show from all the bands.

I've seen them twice, first in 1996, second in 2009. I'm here to tell you, they lost nothing in those 13 years. Easily the most balls to the wall shows I've ever seen, with the crowd full on banging from the stage to the rafters. If you sit down at an AC/DC show, just call the morgue, cause you're done.

I know I had an AC/DC appreciation thread on the old board too lazy today to see if I made one here or not. So at any rate some time in the summer of 1980 whilst I was still heavy into Queen and Aerosmith. I remember my sister, who worked at the mall, coming home from work and she picked up Back In Black for my brother. I could tell by the bag it was a record and my eyes lit up like a Christmas tree thinking it was something Queen related. Much to my chagrin, at the time, it was AC/DC "Back In Black" I remember thinking AC/DC what's this crap?? At any rate a week or so later I had nothing to listen to so I was going thru my brothers albums and picked out Back In Black and thought oh well I give this a try I guess. anyway I put on the side with Back In Black, the song, on it {thinking it was side 1 because it had the title track on it (which would remain that way for about a year [hey I wasn't even 8 at the time give me a break]}). Needless to say 2 and a half chords later I was hooked, a few months later they were my favorite band and have been to this day. At a later date my For Those About To Rock album story.

Holy shit, look at Angus go!! He shows more energy in this one song than some bands do in an entire concert. They must be in England though, because even when Angus goes up in the audience, they all just sit and smile politely.

How many times can you hear “Guns For Hire”? Many on this. I’ve even more appreciation, which has always been there, for Cliff Williams hear especially on take 3 and four.

I’m thoroughly convinced the album “Flick Of The Switch” did not succeed because it was released in the era of Casio Keyboards (in rock and pop music) finger tapping and the start of the over polished hair metal scene. Hearing some of these songs in a live, loud raw performance from the boys is really doing it for me. And yeah since it’s rehearsals they are playing the songs over and over again but some of the nuances of each band member really stick out. The songs on this album are raw and very fucking good in my humble estimation. Oh and yes the videos for Nervous Shakedown and Flick Of the Switch came from these rehearsals and no I can’t pick out which take was actually used but.. they’re all foolkin’ good as Brian Johnson might put it.
P.S. Simon Wright is a much better drummer than I realized yet still not as good as Phil Rudd.

If you hate the band for any of these reasons you’re an idiot. And I find the Bon Scott era better but… the Brian Johnson years are too fucking good to dismiss. And much better than almost to everything out there rock and roll wise.

This is the coolest thing you'll see today! A few of the kids are annoying, but most of them are pretty awesome. I love the girl with the 'cupcake' shirt who says: "This is good! ...Oh yeah, let's go!" Some other good quotes: "...really good guitar person.." "Are those church bells or something?"
