I am seeing Collective Soul tonight...not a bad way to spend Valentine's night. I agree, not bad. Not bad at all. Have fun!

I'm digging into new stuff for an upcoming talk. And wondering whether the mathematical behind the code will be as interesting to others as it is to me. Thing is, not knowing how this stuff really works in the back when I started using it early on has been the cause of some really stupid mistakes on my side, so I do think it's important to understand. It's just that I'm afraid of that "ugh, complicated Maths, not for me" kind of reaction.

It's just that I'm afraid of that "ugh, complicated Maths, not for me" kind of reaction. I know nothing of the material you are doing the talk on. However if you were using said mathematics before knowing how it works there's a good chance others are too. One's like or disdain for complicated maths could be second to the benefit they'd receive from getting a better understanding of something they will/might need to use anyway. They also might me less likely to shy away from such things in the future as a result of your talk even if some in the audience might be reluctant going in based on subject matter. Long story short sounds like there are a lot of possible benefits to outweigh some of the timidity there might be because of the subject matter.

I have the Rush song Chain Lighting in my head today with an auro of Roll The Bones surrounding it.
"Sparks ignite and spread new information Respond, vibrate, feed back, resonate"
I found out today that the Janis Joplin made famous song "Me and My Bobby McGee" was written by Kris Kristofferson. Whilst flipping through a biography of her.
In the past two weeks the movie "Alice Doesn't live here anymore" ,With you might have guessed it Kris Kristofferson in it, has been popping up on the tube. A movie I might not have much interest in but for the direction of Martin Scoresese and the fine acting abilities of Ellen Burstyn. btw.
Add to that in the same book on Janis there is a big picture with her and a bunch of musicians during the recording of her first album after Big Brother & The Holding Company ended. And who is next to Janis in the picture other that Rufus Thomas who as you kids around here should know wrote and recorded the original "Walking The Dog" Our beloved Aerosmith covered as well as The Stones and Ratt among others. Also in the picture in the back row opposite side of Janis is one my favorite bassist of all time Donald "Duck" Dunn.
So the point I think I'm trying to make new information has come to me today and random things of the past week or so have vaguely been intertwined meshed together I find interesting and I hope you might find it that way a bit too. I certainly hope you haven't gotten to this point and though I read this rambling for what???

If there was something else I'd rather be doing. I damn well would be doing it!

I have a long week ahead... I'm flying to Brussels tomorrow. Then taking the bus from the airport to Antwerp (going to arrive late ), where I'm seeing the first of the two "Welcome back, Biff!" Saxon shows on Wednesday. Then on Thursday morning, I'm taking the train to Nijmegen, where on the same evening I'm seeing the second Saxon warmup show. Then on Friday morning, taking the bus to Düsseldorf, where I'll be giving a talk that evening. Hopefully. We've already been dumped by one venue due to the virus, let's hope the replacement one won't decide to do the same. Would be a pity to have put all this work into preparing for nothing... Then on Saturday evening, I'm seeing the big Saxon show in Düsseldorf. The 40th anniversary one. Then on Sunday morning, I'm getting on a train and going to Berlin. From where I'll be flying back to Bucharest on Monday morning.

I've managed to exchange my bus ticket for an earlier one. Was landing at 16:50, was afraid that with a flight delay I may not be able to catch the 17:30 bus, so I went for the 20:00. But my flight didn't arrive late, it arrived early...

I'm a man with a one track mind, so much to do in one lifetime.
... any guesses what song is in my head all day today?

I'm a man with a one track mind, so much to do in one lifetime. ... any guesses what song is in my head all day today? I may have mentioned before it's one of my all-time Queen faves. In other news... I am officially embarrassed and Biff is a superhero. I'm not embarrassed because before the last song, which was Princess of the Night this time, Biff said something along the lines of "we hope to see you again, maybe this year, at a festival, maybe tomorrow, maybe in Düsseldorf, Glasgo, London, Manchester... which shows are you coming to? Which shows are you coming to, Ana?" I don't know how I feel about him doing that in front of over a thousand people, but it's not the reason why I'm embarrassed. I'm embarrassed because he had a heart attack while biking, had to undergo extremely invasive heart surgery at 70 (not good news at any age, but particularly bad news at his age) and now came back and did a 2 hour warm-up show, not only not sounding weak or anything, but also hopping around... and I was left out of breath a few times. I wonder if his surgeon can put my kidneys back into place. I believe they got stuck somewhere in my throat as I was jumping. Anyway, about the show. Diamond Head opened. And they were fucking good. Wow, just wow. I got a setlist and a pick, even though not branded, from Brian Tatler. Saxon chose to start with the most of classics, and I really like that. You know there's something juicier coming later on in such a situation. Also, I so wish I could have experienced Battalions of Steel with an orchestra like they had in Wacken. Biff sounded great, but the orchestra version was fucking epic. Other than that, I was super happy to hear Dogs of War live for the first time. And the crowd singing 747 was really cool. Got a pick from Doug at the end. Different from the ones I got from him before. Oh, and I almost broke my neck on the stairs going down into the big hall.
