I can't believe this week wasn't shit. It could have been better, I'm still bitter about some stuff I didn't get done at the beginning of it on time. And about not being able to get my shit together and get back to working on an article, but what you fuck up on Monday and Tuesday you end up having to fix for the rest of the week. But it could have been all utter shit and it wasn't.

I should really go to the bank to check if Ryanair have finally refunded me. I first filled in the damn form back in April, as soon as they announced me my remaining flights were cancelled as well. Romania had long limited freedom of movement at that point, so I couldn't have left even if I was still allowed to enter Germany and Sweden at the time. But I decided to do nothing about my flights and train rides and waited for them to get cancelled, so I could ask for refunds. I thought I'd receive my money back fast, just like I did in March (though that was a smaller sum). Well, I didn't. And for months, I got no response when I tried contacting them. Eventually got to bark to an actual human who told me to fill in the form again - something I had avoided doing because I was afraid it might cause trouble and I may not get my money back at all.
Drawing the line...
WizzAir operated the flight anyway just so they wouldn't have to refund anyone. I'll let it go, it was less that 20€, but I'll remember. Norwegian took a few weeks, but I got my money back from them in May. SAS took over 4 months, but I eventually got my money back in August. This was the one I cared about the most because it was my most expensive one, over 60€. Ryanair refunded me within a week back in mid-March for the first flight, still have to see about the rest (which add up to more than the SAS one). BlueAir only offered the option of a voucher. Then they filed for bankruptcy. Yup. Stings, because it was my second most expensive flight out of all that got cancelled, almost 50€.
As for train... Deutsche Bahn offered a voucher. Which, uh, oh, has already expired.

We booked Queen+Adam Lambert for a Saturday in June last year with the intention of taking my son to his first gig... fast forward a few months and it gets pushed back to a Saturday in June this year. They've today announced that the gig is now pushed back to 2022... to a Thursday! So yeah, going to drag everyone into London on a school night... I think not! Now to find out if AXS can move dates for us, or if we have to cancel completely

I'd say go anyway, regardless of what day it is.
I first saw Motörhead on the week I took my final Maths degree exam. Fuck knows what day of the week it was, but it surely wasn't a weekend. The show was life-changing and I got a perfect ten on my exam. Less than a year later, I saw Aerosmith on the same day I had an exam at the polytechnic. Exam in the morning, Aerosmith in the evening. In both cases, it never occurred to me to even look at the calendar when buying the tickets. I always knew that whatever else lands around or even on those dates, I'll try my best to work around it all. You don't miss a once in a lifetime because it could make one day too busy. You get the chance, you grab it and you hold on tight.
At this point, Brian and Roger are past a certain age. It may well be the one chance your son ever gets to see them.
I got to see them 5 years ago. It was a good night. Murderous heat, good fun night of music and a big show. And I was probably quite a sight when I went into a store afterwards to get something to drink... full of shiny confetti still sticking to my sweaty skin.

I was that annoyed I spent 5 minutes in Excel and came up with a much better arrangement of dates! While 5 of the 10 dates have kept the same day, they’re often a week apart rather than consecutive. So if you’d bought tickets for 2 shows, your 1 night layover becomes 6 nights!
My alternative has only 1 date affected by a change of day, and negligible impact on people booking consecutive dates as a result!

Would mean time off work, time off school, and (worst of all) trying to arrange with my ex for me to be able to take my son out of his school for the day... and she hasn’t been very forthcoming with access as it is!

There was an episode on the Sabaton History channel where they discussed why they couldn't keep the order of the dates when they rescheduled their Russian tour and this was the main reason. I know Saxon also couldn't keep the venue for one of the shows and had to settle for a smaller venue because the one they were originally going to play wasn't available when they wanted to reschedule. A band like Queen may also be playing stadiums and those are also used for sporting events... You might try contacting them to switch up your tickets for another show on a more convenient date.

Have contacted them on Twitter - the provided website link is a 404! And the rearrangement I suggest is based on the exact same dates at the venue, just a different pattern for the rearrangement!

I got my paw checked.
Since last summer, I've been feeling some discomfort in my right wrist during/ after handstands. Wasn't really something I couldn't live with, so I just ignored it.
Well, on Tuesday, before I even did any workout... it starts to actually hurt. Which again probably wouldn't stop me if the pain didn't arrive with a noticeable loss of mobility. I still try the next day to get up in a handstand a bunch of times on my fists given I can't bend my wrist to put my palm down anymore, but it doesn't feel good, so I drop it. Up until the weekend, it keeps fluctuating, it would be better, it would be worse, better, worse, better, worse...
Then I wake up on Saturday, fangirl a bit over some old Kreator live videos and... damn, this doesn't feel good. And it also looks a bit swollen. I'm pretty torn at this point. I have absolutely no desire to step into a public hospital (private ones are closed for investigations and such on the weekend). You could catch way worse than covid there. But I'm getting worried I might have a stress fracture. So I end up taking a FFP2 mask on underneath a scarf and leaving.
First hospital, I'm told nope, we can't do x-rays on the weekend. Okay, go to the station and take a bus to the big regional hospital. Boo, the right bus just passes by before I could cross the street to get to the bus station. Go to the station, check the schedule (you can either wait for the next bus to show up on the display or check the station tables). Next bus in some 20 min. -10°C and windy, not fun to wait. Okay, get a ticket anyway. Well, fuck, no human at the stand on weekends and the machine is broken. Fucking Hell, run (sort of, the streets and sidewalks are a skating ring and I want to get to the hospital by bus and on my feet, not by ambulance on a stretcher) to the station next to me where I know there must be a functional ticket machine. But the bus I need to take doesn't pass through there, so I run back to the other station. Wait some 2-3 minutes and the bus comes. Super crowded and some people feel the need to have their daily gossip by the ticket validator, ugh...
Get off in front of the hospital, go around like an idiot for a while because apparently it's being renovated for a year and a half now and I'm having a hard time finding the entrance because it's all ditches and fences and construction booths in the front yard.
Carefully go up the stairs to the entrance (that would have been so typical Ana, she goes to the hospital for a busted wrist and slips and breaks her neck on the hospital stairs). Go in and... okay, now what? I'm inside the hospital, but I don't know this place, where the fuck am I supposed to go? I look left, I look right, someone at a desk signals me to come. I shortly explain what's the deal and I get told to sit on a chair opposite the desk.
Things that happen while I'm sitting there: I notice they only allow patients to stay inside. They allow other people to help them get in and out, but if you're with someone and don't have a problem yourself, you cannot be stationary inside. Guess that's good, even if mind you, there are -10°C outside. And it's windy.
I also notice a panel with... guess we can call them severity ratings? and average waiting time before a doctor sees you. Green - one hour. Blue - two hours. White - four hours. I later learned there are also red and yellow ratings, but those people arrive there on stretchers and might even be unconscious, so I guess they wouldn't get to read that chart anyway.
A guy gets brought in on a stretcher. Ski accident, he's probably half conscious because they yell at him "can you hear me?" - side note: you know you're in a mountain resort when 75% of the emergency room comes straight off the ski slopes. Well, to be fair one guy got stabbed there, he didn't actually fall - and so I learned skiing can be dangerous in other ways. But yeah, makes sense, if you're skiing, you probably have money, so you're a good target for a mugging.
Anyway, after they send the skiing accident guy to a doctor, I get called at the desk. I get asked a bunch of question and they do a quick checkup. Because covid, they can't let in someone with covid. At least now I know I haven't had it without knowing. I get a blue rating - it's a weird moment because I both want my injury to be as trivial as possible and not spend hours there. Can't have them both though.
I then get shown the way to the orthopedy door and told to sit there on some bed or wheelchair. Of course, you have to move when they need those for someone in a more serious state. Which happens quite often. Lots of people coming in from the ski slopes.
I guess I do get seen for the first time within two hours, but who the fuck looks at the time? The hospital looks like the average hospital around here. Filthy everything, degraded windows, dangling blinking light bulbs. I don't see any roaches though... that's unusual. But uh, oh, there are some religious symbols on the walls. Makes me sick to see that in hospitals. Is it a subtle "may god help you, we can't" message? I feel guilty when I go in because I close the door behind me like I normally close doors... which is not gently by normal people's standards. But the damn thing is so old and rotten I worry it's going to crumble off its hinges.
I explain what happened once more. I get weird looks when I mention loss of mobility and move my hand to illustrate it. Fuck it, maybe it doesn't look like there's any loss of mobility to the average person who's not as flexible, but there's a big difference compared to my other wrist. I also know I probably seem terribly indifferent and not at all like someone in pain while they press various points on my wrist and palm. But it's probably a combination of I'm pretty numb because of the cold (the place is poorly insulated) and they are orders of magnitude more gentle then I've been while curiously pressing and pulling it at home. I even hear the question whether an x-ray is necessary, but luckily the answer is "yeah, she didn't come here to see us" - truth. Good thing my amused face can't be seen behind the mask. I get taken for x-rays. Then I have to go back in front of the same door and wait for them to come too.
They finally come back and I get called inside again. There's no bone damage to be seen on the x-ray. My wrist gets checked again. It's most likely an inflamed tendon (which doctor Google later tells me is a pretty common injury given what I've been doing). I get lectured on how wrists are smaller than ankles because they're not meant to support the entire body's weight and my wrists in particular are tiny, bla, bla bla. I weigh as much as a (bigger) penguin, ffs, but I don't feel like discussing that, I'm an antisocial creature and I've already had enough human interaction to last me for an entire month. I get told not to use my wrist - okay, that I have to question, what is it even supposed to mean? There's a big difference between getting up in a handstand and picking up a fork... I get told to keep it elevated, use a gel for the inflammation and they also give me some painkiller.
But I still have to wait until they release my papers, long live bureaucracy. So I wait and wait and wait and wait and wait... finally!
When going out the hospital door, I hear a "see you!" and my instant internal reaction is "hope not!". But it's just a doctor who yelled that at a colleague before dashing past me towards her car. Yeah, I get you, lady, I'm happy to get out of there too and I've only been in for less than six hours in total, but with all my recklessness in other circumstances, I don't have it in me to run down those icy stairs.
Btw, I don't know how those people deal with FFP2 masks every day. My ears were in more pain then the wrist I was there for. I was afraid the damn elastic would leave me without them. The face and neck skin irritation/ bruising wasn't that bad for me, but I suppose it can get really bad if you have to wear them every day. I've had the FFP2 masks since spring, but never wore one before. I thought I'd use them if I happen to travel for something like the book events I had my eyes on last autumn, but that never happened. But just for going outside, I figured a surgical mask and some layers of scarf over it would be enough.

I'm somewhere in between "how can this even happen with the current situation" and "please, please, don't take this away from them"... Kreator have been confirmed to headline Bloodstock... this year. I'm going to save the poster anyway... would you look at that, up there with Priest...
