I tested positive for the coronavirus. Symptoms were like a mild cold with 3 nights of heavy night sweats. I've completely recovered and am glad I don't have to worry about it anymore.

I've heard of people getting covid more than once, unfortunately.

I've tried something new tonight - a new kind of fruit carving to get a leaf shape. I don't have a proper knife for this, but I tried to make it work with what I have.

I'm saddened to hear that The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have called it a career.
Love that band.

I bought myself a carpet. I've had my eyes on it for a couple of years, but it's something that costs a lot for me, so I kept going back and forth with it since 2019... In the meanwhile, the price went up by close to 10%, so maybe I would have been better off with an impulse purchase, though I'm not even an impulse buyer when it comes to food items that are 1% of the price of this carpet. Anyway, the thing was I wanted a nice carpet that's not petroleum-based. I try to go the same route when it comes to clothing. A part of it is not wanting to contribute to fibers ending up in the water I drink and in the fish I eat (I grew up with my dad's parents in a port so I've always loved fish), though I am aware that what a single person does has little impact. An even bigger part of it is the fire hazard. My dad accidentally set my bathroom on fire a little over a decade ago and the synthetic textile that were hanging out to dry and the plastic cosmetics containers caught fire and burned really fast. So I limited my search to wool carpets. There were two models that I really liked when I first started my search. One was a beige to reddish brown geometric one with rhombi that matched the furniture really well. The other one had some greish blue leaves that kind of matched the pattern on my curtains. Well, in the meanwhile, the leaves one isn't made anymore, so that made my choice easier now. Rhombi it is! Got a kick in the ass to finally do it because I just wanted to escape the drilling noises for a couple of hours (somebody moved in below and is now turning walls into cheese, increasing our chances of dying like rats during the next earthquake). I got lucky. These carpets are weaved manually and it takes over two months to make one in the size that I needed. Out of all the people who were in the store at the same time as me and looking for a specific carpet, I was the only one who could actually leave with it. They had one in my size, so I took it. The lady at the store said it's her soul's carpet, though sale people probably say that about everything they sell. And yes, I get that over two months to make one puts "expensive" into a different light. Realistically, the price is good for the amount of work that goes into it. It's just that it's a big sum relative to my income and a shocking departure from the trend of the past decades - produce as much as possible, as cheap as possible, sell as much as possible, grow profits as much as possible. With no regard to quality because you want the thing to break and become unusable as fast as possible, so you can sell the sucker a new one and make more money. Then here I am, buying this carpet that took an insane amount of time to make and that I hope to last a lifetime. The guarantee flyer I got with it says 10 years, but I'm pretty good at taking care of my things so they don't get damaged. Anyway, given how heavy the sum is for my pocket, I still had my doubts. But now seeing it on the floor in the room... I don't know, the fact that it fits so well just makes me happier with the choice than I thought I would be.

I probably sound like a grumpy old hag, but I'm starting to really miss the good old days when covid was the biggest problem we had...

I miss the times when I wouldn't have even known wtf she's carrying, let alone known instantly what type of bomb that was. (it's the empty frame of a cluster bomb)

It means a lot to them.

I got the petunia that nobody else wanted. The last one the dude at the market still had to sell. Tiny, with its one fully open flower partly torn off. But I love how that flower looks. I love that it's not just an empty bell shape like other petunias, but has lots of petals. And I love that dark purple, almost black.
