I... really need to get used to the new laptop. I've had my old one since June 2006 and it's really slow at times with some of the crazy 3D stuff I do. With 3D in mind, I opted for a high-end gaming laptop. Performance-wise, it's amazing, but there are a ton of little things that just feel better about the old one. I recommend, if it is Windows 8 that you now have and hate, that you download a small free app called Windows Classic Shell. It installs in seconds and gives you the option for you to choose from different older styles (that were perfect, Leave it alone Microsoft!) such as Windows 7 or XP. It also gives you your true start menu back.

I initially thought about something more radical, like simply installing another operating system. I haven't installed a new OS on my old laptop since June 2010 (I think it was around the Aerosmith concert because early on the day of the concert I went to one of my former professors to borrow an HDD to temporarily keep some of the stuff from my laptop on). Now, four years later, my first later, my first thought was... hmm, let's check out Ubuntu! And I had the pretty nasty surprise of discovering it looks like it has taken the same path. So this plus the fact that there are a lot of things now that I never had to deal with before made me decide I won't make the switch... yet. This laptop has vibration detection & a shitload of other things the former laptop didn't. What if I can't get all these things to work as they should after I install a new OS? It wouldn't hurt to learn, it's true, but not now. The Amsterdam event is important for me for a few different reasons, both financial and ego-related and I know I'll feel terribly guilty for any move that doesn't go according to plan. Also the feel is not limited to the OS. It's also physical stuff, like the distance between the keys, some keys positioned differently, the corner/ edge roundness, especially underneath in front (the old one has a small ditch and I can slip my fingers in there and pull it towards me), the feel of the materials. The old one feels really smooth except the keys. With the new one, the keys feel slippery, but the rest has an armadillo-like feel... Damn, this habit thing...

I would love it if Aerosmith played F.I.N.E. at the next show. I had it on repeat for about an hour today...

I drink to remember I smoke to forget.
I'm happy I don't smoke.
I'm also glad I have a half day at work and money in my pocket for the bar later.

Just bought 2 new computers, a desk top and a finally a new laptop. The desktop come with windows 8 (I wasn't sure whether to find a gun and shoot it or myself) the laptop come with 8.1, no insanity plea required...update to 8.1, it isn't xp or 7 but to me way easier to operate.

I am terribly nervous about my dad visiting. 13 more hours until he arrives. I love my parents dearly, but damn, it's like no matter what I do is right.
They always have an issue with the "lack of furniture" in my house. Hello, I live here and I like space. They live in another city! They've even bought stuff and thought they could just drop it at my place and it took an insane amount of acting like an enraged beast to get them take it back.
And the "lack of clothes". Ahem, last autumn I gave away 12 big sacks of clothes and I still have mountains of them, enough to make me fear cartoonish scenarios of everything falling over me when I open the closet door. Almost all my family from my mother's side works in the fashion industry, so I have a constant flux of stuff coming in...
Also, with what's in my fridge. No matter what, they have an issue with it. It's either you should eat more fruit or you should eat more meat. And everything else in the house, it's like they have this crazy pleasure of inspecting everything and finding something wrong.
Crappy thing is we often end up fighting like we're crazy over unimportant shit like this.
Even crappier is that I asked him to come. Last weekend! I had just returned from Amsterdam with a busted ankle, I could barely walk and I was in pain and I could have used some help. Except then he was like nope, it's a religious holiday... So he thought it would be great to come now. After a week that hasn't been good for me, so I'm pretty much avoiding everyone because I'm sure I'd make crap company. But hey, that's not his fault, so I thought I can try to make an effort to act like everything's fluffy. Except I'm going crazy inside my head.
/end rant
EDIT:
I can't believe this was the post that made me transition to "I Rocks"....

^ I suppose you know this, but they only act like that because they love you and worry about you. You may be grown, but you'll always be their little girl.
Meanwhile...
I just changed the oil in the riding mower and the plow truck. That's enough for one Saturday.

I am listening to you play Scorpions. I also downloaded a Scorpion Child album this morning and am adding it to my iPod as we speak. Different band, both kick ass though.
