2112 and the song Subdivisions were really important to me in my life. He had a rough decade. RIP

well, I haven't liked any of the posts regarding Neils' passing because I just don't like it. Like a punch in the gut. What a tremendously talented and thoughtful musician, and we were blessed that he shared it with us all.

A brilliant man. True genius.
Rush are a two sided coin for me. I absolutely adore their 70's catalogue (the only exception being Side 2 of Caress Of Steel. Always seemed a little undercooked to me), but never came to terms with their material beyond that decade.
Queen fits into that category as well.

Round about February 12, 1981 then? As Moving Pictures was released on this date in 1981.
Now I'll alarm some hear of the obvious here is I was taught this today.
Moving Pictures: 1) On the front cover the workmen are moving the pictures into the museum. Moving Pictures! (alright that one I already knew) 2) The people to the side of the workmen are crying at the pictures as they are being moved by them. Moving Pictures! 3) On the back cover of the album pictured is a film crew that filmed the workers. Films after all are Moving Pictures!
There's your lecture today from professor palpable on shit you probably already knew. I think I'm a fairly intelligent person but yes I can be pretty daft sometimes!

The late 70s was a great time for a wide eyed teenager to be getting into rock music. Ticket prices were cheap, a lot of the top bands were releasing a new album nearly every year, and making what I still think of as their best music. Hemispheres is still my favorite Rush album, just ahead of A Farewell To Kings & 2112. Attachments:
