Browsing through some older threads I came accross this "Brad Whitford Appreciation Thread" and thought about Tom... I think he's a damn good bass player and a very nice guy. Any time that I had the chance to talk to him he would always stop and talk to me for a moment, wouldn't mind signing some little things or taking a photo together. He's very positive guy, so it's a pity he's usually in the background. But then I totally love this moment on every show when it's Sweet Emotion time (pun intended) and he's coming forward with a smile on his face and looking around the crowd. And he actually looks at fans not as a single mass of people, but one by one. And that bass line is.... well, you know And I have to say that I do like his "Up on the Mountain" from TMFAD. It ain't the masterpiece alright, but it's nice for a change. It would be so cool if he could do it live every once in a while. Not sure he's able to nowadays, though...? Show him some love, people! PS. do you happen to know (or what's your guess) if anybody from the management or any members themselves take a peek here...? Any chance our discussions make any difference?

much appreciated. Tom has been teasing us with a solo album and I would love him to release it eventually. It's interesting how come he writes regularly at home but gets credited for Aerosmith songs so rarely.

Not only an excellent musician, but also very laid back and a great sense of humor.
And yes, people close to the band do check in here sometimes.

And yes, people close to the band do check in here sometimes. Yikes! Does it mean we should quit some of the bitching and complaining? much appreciated. Tom has been teasing us with a solo album and I would love him to release it eventually. It's interesting how come he writes regularly at home but gets credited for Aerosmith songs so rarely. Curious, isn't it...? But the solo album would be most welcome.

Tom is really down to earth and very easy to talk with. Monday night during the M&G he said he was recovering from laryngitis. I noticed he didn't sing backup Monday or Thursday night and he always enjoys singing.
I hate that his name isn't mentioned when people talk about great rock bassists.

Great thread! Tom became my personal favorite in 1990 after the SNL Wayne's World appearance. So good.
My son and I stood right in front of him in Vegas on the 8th...he is a fantastic player! On a night filled with chaos, Tom was a rock. Smiling, jamming and making eye contact with all of us. He seemed like he was the only guy to not get rattled that evening.
I felt compelled to walk right up to the edge of the stage and reach out between the monitors. He smiled and bent waaaay down to fist-bump me. True man-love there, I tell ya.
Long Live Tom Hamilton!

Tom is definitely an underrated bass player. So many great Aerosmith songs are enhanced by his bass lines.

They've totally been killing Kings And Queens so far with the Vegas residency (Tyler's been kinda standing pretty still, for him, and really concentrating on the vocals which I love) that said Tom's bass line in the slow instrumental break in that song has always been one of my very favorites.
And of course:
This vid in particular really captures the work Tom puts in on this one.

How was it? Any chance of getting items autographed? When I say items, I mean my arm...

Love him. He has contributed to many Aerosmith albums/songs and he's so goofy and such a star on stage. I always get emotional when Tom and Brad walk on the catwalk enjoying the crowd's reaction. Aerosmith is such a cool band with lot of spirit and passion also thanks to the members' personalities!
