Alright... That's gonna be interesting to see how it works out. I will be watching this for sure. Saw them live once and it was rad! Let's see how this will compare. And by the way - it's now less than 4 weeks until the first scheduled Aero show in Europe (Italy). Still no word... A gig in a empty stadium seems pointless to me. I take it there'll be a charge for the stream. Fair enough but the price has to be realistic. Sorry but I disagree that it is pointless. The stream is free.. It is a kind gesture to generate money for charity if you chose to donate. At a time when we can't see bands playing together live it seemed like a pretty cool thing to me. Generally you just see people performing by themselves but this gives the whole band an opportunity to play together. Plus Fenway is a historical beloved ballpark in Boston. I don't even like the Dropkicks Murphy's but this is a great thing for them to do. It is great for their fans, the city and the local charities they are raising money for. Aerosmith missed the boat on this one. They are an international band and could have raised a lot more money.

I think a smaller venue could work better.

Alright, alright... So I watched it. It was... interesting. I wouldn't say it was stunning or a once in a lifetime experience, although the latter might actually be true, depending how things will go. But anyhow - apart from the obviously noble idea of fundraising, the "show" itself was funny and arranged a little bit like a baseball game. All band members spread out, very few crew/tech people and obviously no audience. Bruce Springsteen "joined" them for two songs via internet and was displayed on the big screen behind the band. They played some of their classics and some a little less known. Now, I don't really see how that could ever be a substitute for a real show. But I also don't think anybody is actually proposing or even considering it. I can't even see what would actually be the point. It's nice to see them play live, but not being there and knowing... that nobody is there, just doesn't cut it. I would rather see a recording of a proper concert from the good ol' days

So what does everyone think on the Fenway show? Still gonna happen?

So what does everyone think on the Fenway show? Still gonna happen? With over 10,000 active cases in MA, I have to say I doubt it unfortunately.

It's highly unlikely the show happens, but the number of cases are dropping rapidly in the state.
It was down to 17 deaths and 149 new cases today. While, nothing to make light of, at it's peak in mid to late April it was over 200 deaths and close to 2,500 new cases each day. If the numbers keep dropping at this pace, there is a chance.
Unfortunately, there is no social distancing at Fenway which probably has the tightest seating in the country. They probably won't allow full capacity there until active cases are near zero.

Unfortunately zero cases are impossible at this point the virus is endemic, all we can do is to keep safety measures in place and wait for a vaccine/therapy. Hospitals and doctors are already treating the illness better but there's still lots to do.

Well, there is still some time left and we already know that they don't mind making (or at least announcing) decisions in the last moment. I guess they will wait till the end of August (which is about two months away) and then decide. Which tell us exactly nothing, as everything can change both ways in that time.
I sure hope they will play, but if not - I am not surprised.

POSTPONED! " 50th Anniversary Fenway show is being rescheduled to 14th September 2021. [...] All tickets will be honored for the new date so hold onto yours!" https://www.instagram.com/p/CCbBoUWpl9J Can't say I didn't see it coming, but it still hurts that such iconic show must have been postponed...

I have doubts this show will ever happen to be honest.... Not with all five of them anyway. A Year and a half is a long time at their age.. Sucks....

I don't really know what to think about any of it. I kinda just close my eyes and hope for all this shit to pass, so we can all return to (relative) normality. And go see Aerosmith live.

This mrs corona is really getting on my nerves. Unfortunately we cannot sustain another huge wave of cases so we have to be careful from now on until the situation gets better, especially in the US. The situation is Europe is sooooooo much better thanks to the lockdown and use of masks and physical distancing. A year is quite a bit at their age I agree but it's not like they're completely senile. Their playing has been already so-so for a couple of years, it's hard to find a great LV concert tbh so at this point we're only going to have some fun while it's still possibile. I doubt anyone of us is actually expecting the best live experience this band has to offer, they already peaked as for live playing. So yeah it sucks we have to wait and potentially get them all rusty and tired in 2021 but still I'm proud they're being careful and most importantly very informative and insightful about the situation instead of bragging about the virus not being dangerous and making stupid claims about masks and whatnot.

Too bad, but no suprise. It really was the only option. Right as the northeast looked to be getting the virus under control, the rest of the country appears to be in a surge. Who knows what's really going on or how it will all shake out. I'm not overly optimistic the virus still won't be a problem next year.
I knew seeing Aerosmith on my 40th birthday was too good to be true, guess I'll just need to postpone the festivities for 361 days (if not more).
I have pretty good seats, but wonder if I could get closer by opting for a refund and reordering when they go on sale again. I spent over $2000 for 8 tickets, so I'm not thrilled about having to pay that far in advance for something that is still up in the air. I'm sure the people with the closer seats are thinking the same thing.

And the tickets are still on regular sale here www.mlb.com/redsox/tickets/concerts/aerosmith unless you are hoping for someone to cancel theirs and tickets being back in the pool?
