It's been a while since I have been here. But while on the interwebs today searching for anything Aerosmith, I came across this clip on YouTube - from the RIAHP Sessions: So that lead me to joining the website found listed there - www.historicfilms.com/ . A treasure trove of archival footage of just stuff and lots of stuff. Naturally, I signed up to search for some Aerosmith footage from that reel. As I did, I came across the finishing touches on Bitches Brew. Then I found this on there (and converted it to Youtube): Steven even says "Next Album" on the clip... Thoughts? Enjoy!

He's a genius. RIAHP is such a great and ballsy record. It's everything DWM should have been with Joe Perry and Brad back in the picture. Unfortunately most of the vocals are rough but it's the only flaw of that album imho.

Unfortunately most of the vocals are rough but it's the only flaw of that album imho. Even in such a deteriorated state, his genius shines through. RIAHP is a good album with some amazing songs. And now hearing this I can see how this and maybe even Shame on You from DWM were left over songs or ideas from Rock in a Hard Place.

One of my biggest wishes in terms of unreleased/unheard rock music would be to hear all or at least some of the material that was recorded during sessions for the follow-up album to RIAHP, 1 of my 2 favourite Aerosmith albums (along with Toys) and/or demos for the same. So it would be great if more info. could be obtained regarding Darkness (and possibly Shame on You) possibly having been written for inclusion on the Group's only album with Jimmy C. and Rick D.

Ted I am not sure there is much leftovers from the RIAHP sessions. Though clearly Darkness was, along with Etched in stone. But I would be more interested in seeing some of the Mirrors demos and outtakes. I am not sure if in fact shame on you is some the Jimmy and Rick days, but Darkness and it are the only songs with a solo credit from Steven. All the other songs have the rest of the band (other than LTMDTT as a Joe solo) Ben

This track would have been on the album after RIAHP if Rick/Jimmy stayed in the band. Rick recorded it and I put this little CD together years later on MP3.com of some of the tracks he recorded but that never got released since his record company at the time disappeared. Looks like a fan put it up on this site: www.discogs.com/Rick-Dufay-Written-In-Stone/release/13954816

The title track was called the "On the Bus" song because that is what it was...worked on mostly by Tom and Rick..while...on the bus. It is the only Aero sounding track on the CD.

I wish I could see what you all see in RIAHP. I have tried to listen objectively to it so many times, but aside from Lightning Strikes and (to a lesser extent) Bitch’s Brew and Joanie’s Butterfly, I just cannot get into it at all. It’s just...boring to me, sounds like very mediocre 80s rock that really doesn’t go anywhere.
I love classic Aerosmith (first four albums, and various tracks from DTL and Ruts) and I like a lot of the post-comeback stuff, minus JPP and MFAD except for 1-2 tracks off of each.
What am I missing? If it hasn’t happened for me in the last 27 years of fandom, I doubt it will happen now?

Push Comes To Shove is a great down and dirty blues track that gets me every time. I can see why it's not for everyone though.

I like the lyrics, the aggression and the sound of Steven's voice. While I do like DWM, PV and BoBo, I still like RIAHP better than anything that was released after it.
