I saw Peter Green (Splinter Group) live about 20 years ago. It was a double header with John Mayall and his Bluesbreakers. Peter and the band were on first, but the band was led by his long time friend, Nigel Watson, who had persuaded Peter to get back into music again. Nigel took most of the vocals and the soloing, mainly because of Peter's shyness. Peter was happy to just step out front occasionally. They formed The Peter Green Splinter Group and made a bunch of really good albums in the late 90s/early 2000s. So they had a lot of very strong material to call on with their own songs and some old Fleetwood Mac classics.
What I most remember about the show was the interval between bands. Peter came out into the foyer to chat with fans, sign CDs, do photos. A friend of mine who came along saw him with Fleetwood Mac in the late 60s, and the two of them spent some time reminiscing about the old days. And it struck me what a genuinely nice, friendly guy he was.
I was due to see Peter Green again, I think it was 2010, but the gig got cancelled due to Peter's health problems at the time.
This video is the Splinter Group, would have been around the time that I saw them
