I think they'll probably go the big way. I always thought that in bands this big, the word "Farewell" is a huge cash machine. Plus they had all the "50 years" thing planned, they pushed it to 2021 and perhaps after that, just do a last world tour and call it quits. But he's been complaining about the band's dynamics for some time now, and I think he's absolutely right I just hope Brad is part of it. They might just re-brand the 50 year as the farewell and have Fenway be their last show. These guys will think nothing of replacing Brad/Tom or Joey though. The shows I saw without Tom were surprisingly great as David Hull is a beast. I don't care too much about Joey unless it affects the setlists like it did during the last East Coast shows. Brad though... I watch him more than Joe. There guitar interaction is just incredible. Seeing them play the Toys album without him was a yawn... That said, I have my Fenway tickets and will be going regardless of who is onstage at that point..... That is if the show even happens.. Hang in there Brad!! I know his son used to view the board.. If you see this, tell your dad to hang in there for the fans!!!!! \m/ After all the turmoil and critics they received over how they treated Joey, I don't think they would try to replace anyone else unless it's agreed by all 5 members. They'll try to convince all the involved to take part and cash it in and after that, every man for himself. At least, that's what I hope they do.

I'm going to add my two cents again. If the truth be told, these 5 guys are a unit when performing as Aerosmith. Each time someone has been out of commission, the sound of the band is noticeably different. There is some huge talent with each of these guys, but would they had made it on their own? Let's say that early on Steven decided to go solo permanently. Do you think it would have worked? His solo, country album was not an enormous success. Joe's albums are not so popular that every casual fan knows any songs from his albums. Whitford St. Holmes...What's that?(Casual Fan Reaction) My saying that doesn't mean that those projects are necessarily bad or these guys can't hold their own. It just means the the group as a unit has been able to create memorable music and the band has become a household name. If Brad made that comment 25 years ago, then I'd say "uh oh, my band may break up! What will I do?" As we all know this kind of thing has happened more times than we can count. It's great that Brad has interest in other things, and has done a few other musical projects. but, I doubt any of them will go completely solo in hopes of being a huge hit and become bigger than Aerosmith ever was. At their ages and place in life, it would be better just to wash your hands of it, if you're that dissatisfied. Maybe his remarks are just blowing off steam, but that seems to happen more often these days. 50 years....a half century of playing with the same group for most of those years. It can surely get old and tiring. If you add in the drama (which in many ways, I think has driven the music), then it's easy to recognize the validity of his comments.
Well enough of my redundancy and opinions. Like many of you, don't like to hear comments like this from my favorite band's members. It is what it is, I guess.

I think it’s sad that, at their age and after all they have been through (good and bad), that they cannot put the petty shit and egos behind them and focus on what is really important. The music, the fans and the experience. They are already rich, after all.
Of course, I suspect most of the petty shit and egos are coming from 1-2 people.

Brad just sounds grumpy. This is especially apparent is you listen to part 1 and part 2 of the interview.
I would be shocked if he wasn’t on stage with the boys next year in Fenway (assuming we are in a position to have concerts be a thing next year)

I think it’s sad that ... that they cannot put the petty shit and egos behind them and focus on what is really important. The music, the fans and the experience. I mean, I think Brad's point is that he's spent 50 years focusing on that stuff, and now he wants to focus on what is really important to him *now*, which is family life and other hobbies. As much as I want more music and shows from the band, it's also a little selfish to say that what's "really important" is some songs. I'd say what's really important is to follow your heart. That used to be music for him, maybe it's not anymore.

He said he is angry, his partners should be put in straightjackets, he is not interested anymore, there is no creativity anymore and things are dysfunctional. Now you are trying to say that I am selfish and this has little or nothing to do with internal Aero dynamics but rather is about “following his heart” and family life. Please listen again to the voice threads. Although I’m not a psychologist, he obviously seems disgruntled about the current state of affairs with the band.

I personally don’t give a fuck if they tour again or not. I saw them last year and it was a good show, but it wasn’t the same as in years past. I doubt they could physically sustain a long world tour or a North American tour. They seemed tired and out of gas. My daughter is a huge fan and she got to see them twice and last year Steven saw her One Way Street sign and actually sang the first verse of OWS while at the piano. She was blown away as was me and my wife! That was pretty awesome of him. Don’t get me wrong, I love the band, and probably would see them again, but it wouldn’t bother me if they retired without a farewell.
I’m happy cranking Bootleg or Baying at The Moon Or Unplugged while on a long drive. That shit always puts me in a good mood lol.

I haven't listened to the interview, so I really can't comment. I do know Brad seems to be much happier on stage when he plays with Derek St. Homes. Those shows are about rock music. The Aerosmith shows have transitioned to events rather than shows. The audience isn't engaged in the same way anymore. Used to be the audience fed off the energy of the band, now they appear to engage when an MTV hit is played. I would think this is't as rewarding for the band. It might also be frustrating to have the spotlight literally on Joe when Brad is soloing. And Steven's ego.....

It was good but they can and have been doing better than they did that night. Of course their hands were tied with the drumming situation so they got a pass. I am still hungry for one more bad ass show before it is over. It is a long time away but maybe Fenway will be that. I just upgraded to some really good seats. Fingers crossed that it still happens.

I hear ya bro...but I’m afraid that Steven will fuck the Set list again at Fenway, especially if it’s a farewell show. I have no confidence they will take care of the old school fans longing for 70’s gems. I’ll go, but my expectations will be pretty low.

For those who don't care to listen...
"What does the rest of Aerosmith's career look like? Are you just going to go until someone drops, is that the plan?"
Brad: "uhhh...I don't really....know what they want to do, and uh...I don't really care. Because, I'm, truthfully, I'm not interested anymore. Uh, it's just always extremely dysfunctional and just too mu... too much! I mean, even my health is being affected. Touring, and any of that, like, I'm just not interested anymore. I, I, I've spent, you know, 50 years doing that. I want to spend the next part of my life doin' what I wanna do."
First of all the question was very rude and off putting. Then Brad can just leave. He's been so toxic in the past 10/20 years and honestly as a fan I really don't care about this negativity. On stage I can feel the passion of these guys but most of the time Brad just stands still in the background with a cold aura about him. He just doesn't care. The rare times when he smiles and walks the catwalk are when the band delivers the most but if he's not bringing that kind of energy he can honestly leave. I saw Steven solo tour with that laughable band but it was like seeing a 20 yo guy trying to make it. He is still so hungry, so driven and so full of passion. If Brad isn't aware of the legacy he is carrying and all he wants to do is play in his garage so be it. Aerosmith is bigger than its individual members and Steven knows it. But mark my words: if everything and everyone are safe next year he'll be there touring with the guys because of $$$$$$ so he should really stop talking bs about his band tarnishing its legacy and be more professional. Even in the last album has was the one with the least credit, his input has been so minimal but at the same time he complains all the time. If he has another vision for the band, talk to the management and come up with a business plan that could work for the band before talking shit behind people's back. It's really sad for me as a fan. So I wish the next EU tour is gonna feature the original line up but if someone has to go, then Brad is the least painful departure imho.

^ So many things wrong with that post I don't even know how to address it, but let me hit a few key points....
That is because of the reason posted earlier, that even when Brad is soloing, the spotlight is on Joe. The casual fans don't know or care who Brad is, despite his monumental contribution to the Aerosmith sound. How would you feel after 50 years of being overlooked?
Believe me, he is aware.
1) He is not talking BS. Brad is the only one that is not afraid to tell it like it is. And 2) What should he do, plaster on a big fake smile for the camera and say "I love playing the same setlist (give or take a handful of songs) for the past 30 years!! Those other 175 kick ass rock songs we wrote...who cares about those silly little things?? Give me the 10,000th rendition of WTW anytime!!"
Do you really think he didn't have anything to offer? Brad wants to put some heavy rock back on the albums, but unfortunately, Tyler is calling the shots, so we get stuck with cream puff crap like "What Could Have Been Love". Just look at the songs that do have a Brad credit and you'll see the type of contribution he could make again, if only given the chance.
Apparently you haven't followed the bands history very closely.
Sounds like something a casual fan would say. I would expect more from anyone posting on a site like this one.

Saying I'm a casual fan is just stupid. I don't think none of us here can fit that category.
Also saying Steven is the only one calling the shots is just random complaining. We know for a fact it's not true but even if that was the case, given his enormous input it would still make sense.
Brad has always his moments during the shows and he can take advantage of them and walk the catwalk, sometimes he does and interacts with Joe and the crowd and he shines so much but you can't expect people to engage with him if he stays in the background.
The setlists have staples I agree but they managed to switch it up mostly every time and their shows rock hard. Edge, crying, idwtmat...are all iconic hits and er all have to deal with this. I am not a huge fan of rag doll, idwtmat and jaded either but they're big hits and have a big crowd reaction so I still enjoy them in the moment. Concerts are a group experience never an individual one.
Also I can certainly agree with Brad's idea of putting more rock songs in the sets but here he just complains about the band in general saying it's dysfunctional. To me this is just mindless tarnishing and highly unprofessional. You say all attention is on Joe but he hardly stirs the drama even if he often disagrees with Steven he still remains respectful and puts all his effort on stage and in the music. He's a rock God, not an old grumpy guitarist with ego issues. He owns the stage and earned his spot with iconic and groundbreaking songwriting and playing.
I love Brad style and sleek guitar technique but these petty outings are very childish and plain useless. There's no use in exposing this dirty laundry especially in this complicated covid moment where all we need is some peace of mind and serenity.
Say what you want about Steven but he's such a kind and free spirit who is always going the extra mile to put positive things into the universe and works his ass off on stage. To me that's the difference between a professional rockstar icon and a simple musician.
At the end of the day I just wish they can fix things before the next tour because Aerosmith is Aerosmith with Brad included of course.

I agree with Brad on everything he says. I can hear Steven telling Brad his songs aren’t going on the album because they sound too much like Zeppelin. But Steven would do a song with Carrie Underwood without telling the band after the band had agreed they didn’t want to do a song with her for the album. If you don’t believe Steven is the sole decision maker of the band you are naive. Yes, that’s directed at you Pillis.
You know it’s bad when Brad says it’s affecting his health. I am almost relieved Brad is saying what we have all been thinking the last several years. Sure, I would love to see the band one last time myself but with this never ending Covid BS, that’s probably not going to happen anytime soon.
I guess my hope that the band will use this down time to get in the studio and record an album isn’t going to happen, and after what Brad said, I am glad they aren’t in the studio.

Yes but how is Steven the solo decision maker? Do you think it's in a legal contract? Or just like, he's the most famous so he gets too, type thing? Sad.
