vaticanconference2021.org/dignitaries-and-speakers/joe-perry/Was taking a second look at this website and noticed this: " Joe’s seventh studio album is due to come out later in 2021, which includes Dr. Rudy Tanzi on keyboard." I wasn't at the conference and therefore can't confirm much. But I'm curious to see if this is legitimate, and if we'll get more information as the year goes by.

I didn't either, which is why I'm a little skeptical. I'd be glad to know he's been keeping busy. But I suppose we might have to wait until later in the year to see if he starts hinting at anything.

I didn't hear/read anything about this, but would be nice to get some new material. Of course, it would be better if it was Aerosmith-related and not a solo project, but I guess they just don't care anymore about creating and releasing new music.

There's still that boxset in the works, assuming they've been discussing what to do with it. Not exactly easy to ask them how it's coming along, though.

I wouldn't put a lot of stock in this byte. Sounds like the standard 'Yeah, we're working on a new album' comment. Not to mention that it's sourced from a Vatican conference. Watch out, Blabbermouth! The Pope wants your job.
The possibility of another boxset creates more questions than answers. Columbia already mined the 70's for Pandora's Box, so Sony only really has Nine Lives forward to draw from. I doubt Geffen is going to turn material from their era over to Sony. Maybe they'll work something out, y'never know. Money talks. Even with both companies involved, it's b-sides and whatever 'almost' tracks are still laying around after the MFAD pillaging. Personally, I doubt there's a boxset worth of that material. Fill it out with live stuff, I suppose.
I believe any serious Aero collector probably already has the vast majority of whatever they release in this thing. It's for that reason that I'm not particularly excited about it. That's not to say it won't be purchased first day though! 😃

Not really interested, unless he has Brad on it. Those show he did with Brad were really good (at least what I have seen on YouTube).

Yeah, I am quoting myself: for me both Joe's and Brad's (Whitford/St.Holmes) first albums were good, but everything after just hasn't done anything for me. They seem to be a good complement for each other on stage and in the studio.

So, apparently, it wasn't a Joe Perry album, but Joe Perry recording songs for a soundtrack on Johnny Depp's new movie. We'll see what comes from that.

With Aerosmith not touring for a long time now, I hope Joe tours on his own. Some clubs. With as many as the other guys too. Went to a few he did last time and they were great.

I bought his last 3 solo albums (4 if you include the Xmas EP) but none were really worth it for the most part. They were all pretty forgettable. Done buying everything they do just because.. MFAD was the first Aerosmith studio album I never owned as well. That said I encourage him to release whatever he wants as it is his life and there are fans who want it. It would also most likely mean a live show and that is what I am all about.

Done buying everything they do just because.. I'm not and I'd still probably buy anything, unless it's yet-another-2CD-the-best-of. I think we've had enough of these... But I really hope for some nice box with b-sides or outtakes. And by "nice" I don't only mean musically nice, but also the box itself, some extras, booklets, collectibles etc etc... Another Box of Fire, but complete and with some cool extras, would do the trick too, probably. But just like ap says - this might be difficult due to some formal/financial issues. By the way - isn't this ridiculous, that the bands don't even own their own songs?! That said I encourage him to release whatever he wants as it is his life and there are fans who want it. It would also most likely mean a live show and that is what I am all about. I'd be happy to get another JP's solo record and I would be even happier to have a chance to see his solo show. But I'd rather the whole band to come up with something instead...

I'd welcome a new JP record as well. It seems a minority opinion, but I enjoyed Sweetzerland Manifesto. At the very least, it's diversity was interesting, and it sounded great. Unlike the previous album, Have Guitar.., which was one dimensional and sounded like it was recorded in a mud puddle.
It appears that the Sweetzerland Manifesto 2.0 double RSD release, slated for July, has been cancelled.
