Jeff LaBar, Guitarist for 80s Glam Rock Band Cinderella, Dies at 58Samson Amore Thu, July 15, 2021, 12:06 AM Jeff LaBar, guitarist and vocalist for glam metal band Cinderella, died July 14. He was 58 years old. LaBar’s son, Sebastian LaBar, confirmed the news in an Instagram post Wednesday evening. Sebastian said, “So iI just got the call… @jefflabar , my father, my hero, my idol, passed away today. I’m currently at a loss for words. I love you pop! ❤️ if you could, please share pictures or video of all the fun times we all had with my dad. It would be greatly appreciated.” LaBar’s first wife Gaile LaBar-Bernhardt told TMZ that LaBar was found dead in his Nashville apartment but didn’t specify a cause of death. TMZ reported that LaBar-Bernhardt went to check on LaBar because he had “one off the grid the past few days, with friends and family unable to reach him,” and then found him dead. LaBar joined Cinderella in 1985, three years after the band was founded by lead vocalist Tom Keifer in Philadelphia. He was a key component in the band’s 1986 debut record “Night Songs,” which sold over 3 million copies and was certified triple platinum by 1991. Within a year of releasing, “Night Songs” peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts — and to this day, it’s still cited as one of the best albums to come out of the hair metal era. Cinderella cut their teeth opening for Jon Bon Jovi, who was on the same label at Mercury Records, and Van Halen lead singer David Lee Roth. The band’s biggest hit songs included s “Nobody’s Fool” and “Don’t Know What You Got (Till It’s Gone).” Cinderella never officially broke up, but they stopped releasing new music by 1994. They’ve reunited a couple of times with LaBar, including in 2012 for a reunion tour with Poison and most recently in 2017. In the meantime, LaBar was in another band he co-founded called Naked Beggars and released “One For the Road,” a solo record he dropped in 2014.

Dude had serious addiction/alcohol troubles.
The constantly increasing list of R.I.P. stories in recent years is getting a tad unsettling.
Getting old sucks. Not as much as not getting old though, I suppose.

On a side note, I thought Cinderella had one of the WORST names ever, but showed more growth over their first three records than the majority of their contemporaries. Enough so, that one was even able to look beyond Keifer's blatant Tyler fixation.
That name though...
Who convinced them that was a good choice?? Was it Jon Bon? He pushed hard for them, and gave them the golden opening slot on the Slippery When Wet tour. Those were huge shows.

I also recall an interview from a few years back where it seemed it was pretty clear to him this would happen if he doesn't get clean. A real pity. 58 is too young to die. And honestly, I think Cinderella were one of the most underrated bands of the '80s. Musically, they were fantastic.

Oddly enough, just about a week ago I was watching some Cinderella videos and I started wondering if they ever had any lawsuits brought against them by Disney. I looked it up, but the closest I could find was an interview with drummer Fred Coury where he said he hates it when people ask how the band decided to use that name. The question obviously wasn't answered in that interview and I moved on to other things.

I've wondered that myself. Disney is notoriously protective and litigious with it's properties. If I recall, they even pressured the 80's Chicago thrash band Znowhite about their name, yet Cinderella slides. Very puzzling.

I love the name and the band.. Their last album "Still Climbing" fell under the radar due to the times but it is phenomenal.. I think it might even be their best one..

I love Still Climbing! But yes, I've seen it's one that doesn't get mentioned often.
