I like freedom fighter a lot but I agree it was never good live.

I also think it was very telling that they barely played any of the tracks from this album live - kinda shows how much they cared about this material. Actually, I think they were somewhat proud of this album. They were let down by the fans' response after the hours of work put into it. They may have wanted to play more of the tracks live, but prioritized the fans' opinions first, and stuck with the classics. Even Just Push Play and Honkin' On Bobo, which some consider mediocre efforts, had a good chunk of their songs played live. That’s just it. I don’t think anyone was clamoring to hear “Light Inside” or “Drop Dead Gorgeous” live, but they played those and many other JPP tracks live that whole tour, just like they do each tour in which they are promoting an album - regardless of whether the fans would rather hear the older stuff. The fact they didn’t do this with MFAD suggests they didn’t practice the songs or care to promote the album at all.

The good old days when they still cared about engaging and attracting fans to listen to them and their new music. It's been almost a decade since that. No that I don't agree, but... I'd guess people have been saying that same thing for the past 40 years or so If you know what I mean MFAD is a weird album. When it first came out I loved it, but in time, it lost it's magic and ended up being a kind of "meh" album. There are some good tunes in there (Oh Yeah, Street Jesus, Sunny Side Of Love) but some of them are shameful (Something, Beautiful, Can't Stop Loving You). I really enjoyed it when it first came out and I still do. Probably a little less, but not much. Oh, and by the way you are wrong - Beautiful is fantastic

I saw them on 2013, almost a year after MFAD was released, they only played "Oh Yeah". And I think after the "Global Warming tour" they discarded any song off MFAD from their setlists. I bet Street Jesus would be a killer song live! Same with Lover Alot, I think that would work great with the audience. Then let Joe finally put Stop Messin' Around to rest and go for Freedom Fighter and top it off with Tom going for Up on the Mountain and that's one amazing show... I know, I know... Tom probably couldn't do it nowadays. But hey, dream on, baby!

On that same show in 2013 where they played "Oh Yeah", Joe also sang Combination, which was waaaaaaaay better than Stop Messin' Around
