This looks exciting: recordstoreday.com/SpecialRelease/14538"Boston 1971: A historic early recording of Aerosmith in their rehearsal room - just the band, crew and friends captured on Joe Perry's tape recorder. This never-before-heard performance showcases the early, raw talent of this future Hall Of Fame band, one year before signing to Columbia Records, and two years before their eponymous debut, which featured many of these songs, including their enduring anthem ”Dream On”." Maybe this is that tape Joe was talking about, found in the Aerosmith van? Looks to be scheduled for a Black Friday release. And, does anyone know if this will be the earliest audio we have heard of them? I have played the 1973 concerts many times over, but I don't think I've ever come across anything before then.

How many 1973 concerts are out there? Not many. Paul's Mall is probably the most well known, then there's very few besides that. Only about 2 or 3 in total that I've found.

Hopefully the sound quality is acceptable. I can't imagine it being very good on a regular tape recorder, but I also can't imagine them releasing something that wasn't.
Interesting to see Major Barbra on the track list. The origins of that song have always been a bit of a mystery. It will be interesting to hear how much different that version sounds than the one that was on Classics Live.
A1 - Rehearsal Room A2 - Somebody A3 - Reefer Headed Woman + Walkin' The Dog B1 - Movin' Out B2 - Major Barbra B3 - Dream On B4 - Mama Kin

That and Reefer Head Woman, it'll be nice to compare to the 1979 version.

This is a limited run of 10,000 records and 2000 cassettes. So, useless to me, but it does mention the recordings may be released to other outlets in the future. Either way, YouTube will have it before you know it.

That's pretty cool. The sound quality is certainly rough, but I've heard worse from other demos and outtakes that have leaked over the years. Although besides that, it's not much different than the album version.

The complete conviction in Steven's voice when he sings "We're goin' far...ah yes we are!" is indicative of how right he was.

Just heads up for inquiring minds - a lot of this Record Store Day stuff does NOT come out on other formats. I'm trying to decide if I should get the vinyl or the cassette. On one hand, since it was RECORDED on a lo-fi tape it almost feels like it would be best experienced on one. But on the other, vinyl obviously sounds better and holds up better.
