From what I read it sounds like he has full creative control over the show and is responsible for some of the changes. On top of that I heard that he wrote set least one of the episodes for season two. We didn't watch season one yet. We're waiting for it on netflix.

They remade The Stand?? I thought that was one of the few that was as good as the book.
As for Under The Dome, I agree with you - not so much.

The only version of the Stand I know exists is the version with Gary Sinise. I know that the Shining was redone because King hated Kubricks version. Maybe that's what you meant.

Oh! I was watching that last summer! I expect Season 2 to come back this summer, if it comes at all? It was so weird, and such a crazy cliffhanger. It doesn't have anything at all to do with the book, it's really unlike the book at all.
Oh, look!!! I found a season 2 preview! It comes back in June!
Did they remake the Stand? The one with Gary Sinise and Molly Ringwald was my favorite thing ever to watch when I was in high school.

I am going to give Under the Dome another chance this summer. I've heard they are making some big changes and King is going to be much more involved. (Whether this is a good thing or not, I can't say....he is my fave writer, but that genius doesn't seem to translate well to the screen).
I made it through Season 1 (barely) and while it got worse and worse, I stuck with it. I don't think it's too late to make this a great show - get some new writers and maybe actually make it somewhat scary? The feeling of imminent dread that was in the book is entirely missing....

Season 2 starts here week after next. I'm not going to bother watching it but I will probably cave and buy it on DVD when it comes out. I was thoroughly disgusted with season 1, I only watched 4 shows as it aired and then bought it on DVD. Seeing how happy Stephen King was with it in the special features pissed me off, after all he had said about people ruining his books and he would never again let go of creative control. I have since seen several interviews where he contradicted himself and said he hated the first season and that season 2 would get back on track. How that will happen when characters in the book are already dead and characters that died in the first chapter of the book are still alive is beyond me. Zen, give it a shot. The Season 2 premiere was promising, though they still struggle with characters doing incredibly stupid things and good lord there is some really bad dialogue. But it was scarier and considering your last statement, there might be some payoff for you. : )

I'm still watching, but with the attitude that it's like a car wreck that you just can't look away from. I would have probably bailed if it wasn't for the fact that we're only watching 2 shows right now - this and True Blood.
Unbelievably bad dialogue. Wow!
