Toys was the first album I ever heard, my older brother (well I call him that) conned me into buying it with money I got from Xmas and my birthday around the time I was ten. It's still my fave album to this day, but I do like a lot of the newer stuff too. I think some of my fave live shows were around the PV/Pump era. I saw them last year here in Oz and for me they still rocked live.

As an "old schooler" I just wish they would completely revamp their setlist. Wouldn't mind if they balanced it with old and new, but realistically don't think it will ever happen. I'm really sick of WTW, Cryin, Sweet E, Jaded, amoung others. I much prefer their hard rock blues vibe and think it might be lost forever to a degree.

I have only had the pleasure of seeing Aerosmith 6 times live. I may not ever have heard my ultimate setlist, but since I live on the other side of the world, I just get myself in a good mind frame and enjoy every second of what I am hearing and seeing because I know it will be awhile before I get to see them again.

I like 'em both. I'm 27 and was exposed to both Greatest Hits and the height of the Geffen era (PV, Pump, Get a Grip) at a very young age (like around age 5-6 in 1992-1993) and love it all. Got Toys and Rocks in the mid 90s, then Nine Lives and the rest of the old records, slow-danced to I Don't Want to Miss a Thing at every middle school dance when it was #1, got Just Push Play right before high school, then started seeing the band live every tour beginning with the Just Push Play Tour.
So, for me, I love it all. There are very few Aerosmith songs I dislike and can't stand. Prelude to Joanie is so fuckin' weird, Major Barbra is kinda boring, Lay it Down is terrible. Not a fan of Luv Lies. Not a fan of Tell Me. Not a fan of Temperature. But that's really about it. I love everything else. I guess I'm weird in that I also love both the ballads and the heavy/hard rock shit. Give me it all!!! I want to see both Crazy and Kings and Queens played live. The Hand That Feeds and Hole in My Soul!! How bout them apples? I guess I'm weird.

I came around in the Pump era. Elevator was the song that turned me on to them. I recorded that song from the radio on a cassette tape (yes that's right) and played it non stop every day. Finally I bought the Pump album. I knew one of my friends at school was a big Aerosmith fan so I asked him which album I should get next. He said, "All of them." So I slowly worked at building up my Aero collection during the break between Pump and GAG. After that I started getting into the old shit and I find that even though I like some of the new stuff, it doesn't compare to the 70s material. The only post 87 era album I like from start to finish is Bobo. The others have a few good songs, but too many fillers. Also Pump is a great album. The only song I don't like at all on Pump is My Girl...that just don't do anything for me.

I love it all. I've heard Aerosmith all my life, but my first true DIP into Aerosmith, when I truly became a die-hard fan and listener, was when my parents got me O Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith Hits one Christmas years ago.
I listened to "Walk This Way" and "Dude (Looks Like A Lady)" on heavy repeat for a while, as those were the two songs that I really knew going into the CD. And then I heard "Jaded." Believe it or not, that's the song that truly got me to start buying the band's studio releases. Just Push Play, then Nine Lives, then Bobo, and the rest is all a blur.
I pretty much love it all. I can probably count on one hand the songs that I truly don't like.

I remember hearing Hangman Jury on radio in the 1st Grade and really liking it. I never really put bands and songs together at that point, and it wasn't until Livin' on the Edge went into heavy rotation that I realized these guys had a lot of songs I liked. Within a few months I ordered all their Geffen albums from BMG and picked up their first 3 albums, Greatest Hits, Classics Live & Bootleg heavily discounted at BJ's. So basically I took in about half their catalog at once without having any nostalgia or preconceived notions of what Aerosmith was supposed to sound like.
I generally prefer their faster/louder/heavier songs, and feel the quality of those has been fairly consistent throughout their career. I wish they wrote a few more of those for their later albums, but I feel many of the ones they did stand up well to their early stuff.
