Every time I hear the first chords of Young Lust I think it is going to be My Girl.
Just me?

You know, I never really noticed the similarity before you pointed it out. The first to hits on the guitar are essentially the same.

I never noticed it either until now! Great catch!

Doesn't sound similar to me at all. Then again, I have the advantage of having zero musical talent The beginning of Young Lust sounds much "harder" and more kick ass (that's why I like it more), whereas My Girl sounds more "funky" (which may be the wrong term, but hopefully you know what I mean). Anyway Coop, two things need to happen to make you see things more like me: (1) you need to lose some musical talent, (2) you need less free time on your hands! (LOL)

^ Gary, when the first 2 notes of Young Lust play, my mind just hears Steven singing the first words to My Girl, which happen to be "My girl" After that, you are correct, they are nothing alike. Oh, and its not that I have much free time, its just that I make time for the things I love.

This thread just made me remember this from The Making Of Pump which I'm sure everyone has seen but a great clip non-the-less.

Love that clip And love Young Lust too! One of my faves off that album! Though, always thought My Girl was the weakest song on Pump. Just been listening to the outtakes from Pump for the first time in ages. Some really awesome ones which would have sounded much better than My Girl, Guilty Kilt/ Out Go The Lights for example.

I get it now, but I would have never noticed it before. My mind is a lot slower when it comes to this, I don't even start thinking about what song it is by the time it's over. And then they're obviously different. Love them both though. Love the entire album from start to finish.

For some reason, this made me go through Pump... I don't know, quite few times. Felt really good.
