Geez, take it personally why don't you? I love the old dirty drugged up Aerosmith. You must love the Just Push Play era I guess.

Ha...not taking it personally Coop, I just don't understand how you look at that concert and think Tyler was great. Live! Bootleg is raw, drugged up, dirty Aerosmith but Tyler isn't slurring his words, is on key and I bet Joe didn't have to remind him when to play the harmonica and I don't hear Perry helping him out with lyrics & singing duties. Tyler was probably high but still kicking ass. He was so wasted here it just became a sloppy performance. Before Last Child, he calls out to Joe to start the song, then Brad reminds him it's his song to start. It's all about balance.

Sure he was toasted but that was not any different than what I recall him being like back then, no better no worse.
Hell, take a look at Tyler and Perrys performance in the movie Sgt Peppers .
Tyler was more wasted in the scene where the band is playing Come Together than this concert and Perry couldn't even properly lip synch the lyrics.
Or take a gander at Tyler in the Lightning Strikes video. Hollow eyes, matted hair...stoned.

Here they are in 1977. Raw, dirty, sleazy and drugged up, but this kicks ass. He's not wasted to the point he is sloppy. Big difference. Compare the two Saddles.

Wonder what went on behind closed doors after this show. You guys would have loved him at the Worcester Centrum in November of 1982. He couldn't sing for shit, he was slumped up against the amps, kept knocking over the electric fans on stage and eventually passed out back stage where the band then played Toys with no lyrics. I recall a clip where Steven just decides to lie down on the stage while the rest of the guys are playing, then the camera moves on to Tom who is smiling, then turns around towards Steven and suddenly the smile is gone - I suspect maybe because he didn't know why Steven was just lying flat over there?

Steven always creeped me out in the Lightning Strikes video. He looked like death.

I think you are referring to a different show. He never collapsed on stage in Worcester, but did in Portland Maine a few days or weeks later. There were a slew of unfinished shows during the Rock In a Hard Place Tour due to Tyler passing out. Those shows must have been epic performances!!!!

I think in the book WTW they say he passed out on stage in Worcester and there is a picture of Tyler passed out/ collapsed on stage. I was at the Worcester show and he did not pass out on stage. It was back stage. I confirmed this with a forum member of AF1 years ago, as I was confused and couldn't see how I would not have noticed Tyler passed out. He confirmed that they (Aerosmith) got the dates wrong and place where Tyler had collapsed on stage as he was at the Worcester show as well.

That tape is off. I watch this 4 times a year and it is never like that. The only time I met him, in 83' 2pm, he looked like he was about to die. I didn't know about the drugs at the time. By the time of the concert he was great, he engaged with the audience coherently. Maybe it sucked and I didn't notice.

Sure, it was sloppy. But that was the Aero I grew up loving. Even if many or most of their other shows were not THAT sloppy, we took what we got because of the energy, the attitude and the great old songs. Although they're much more polished nowadays, those other key ingredients often are missing.
Just about that same time (82-85), I recall hanging around at bars on the weekends with my hometown buddies. One was a rhythm guitar player for a bar band. Once in awhile around 2am when everybody was slowing down, they let me get up there and start belting out some Aero (and Billy Idol) songs after 14-18 beers. Man, talk about sucking. I'd love to have that on tape nowadays to watch, even though I'd probably turn 50 shades of red (lol)
