I think some of you take too personal what Steven does with his free time. Joey has his coffee, Joe has his hot sauce, why can't Steven make whatever music he wants? He's not going to hack your bank account or iTunes account and force you to buy his album. Or maybe he will and go all U2 on the world and force his album on your I-device! Relax, the man wants to make music, at least he's trying to stay creative. I don't care for Country acts and I really don't care about Christmas music made after the 1960's so it's not a big deal to me.
Also, Steven has been chomping at the bit to become a "sell out" since Aerosmith was founded, this isn't anything new. Joe's book clearly shows how Steven's been like this from the moment he met him, you all shouldn't act disgusted now, it's always been there.

Steven does seem to blow with the wind of popularity. Desperate for attention. I am bummed that Aerosmith is affected by his need to be in the camera eye. However, he can do what he wants. I want the same privilege. He doesn't have to visit me in my office. I don't have to buy his records (if one every really materializes). Can't have it all, a big reason Aerosmith gained popularity is because Steven is Steven, his desire to be in the spotlight is a big part of what drove the band to success early, in the 80's, 90's and relevant to a larger population in the 2010's.

I was just going to say, if anyone reads Joe's book...Steven is and always was a pop act dabbling in rock. It's just that back in the 70s rock is what was selling so that's what Steven did. I am surprised Steven didn't try disco lol!

One thing I know for sure: I won't buy it, even though I'd be all over anything Joe or Brad would put out.

I think the only reason Aerosmith didn't was because disco started becoming popular when Aerosmith was starting to fall apart, right before Joe, and then Brad left.

It doesn't bother you that our lead singer is becoming a complete sellout? It’s been this way for the better part of 27 years now or longer according to Joe’s book, which I have not read. Why is this now starting to bother you? Apart from a few songs I’ve lost any interest in new music Aerosmith has created since Just Push Play(Steven’s first solo effort). So why get heated up over this shit. As long as his solo stuff stays solo and they jam to the old shit live like they’ve been doing for the past year and a half I find it very very easy to ignore any of Steven’s flavor of the month activities.

It bothers me because ST is the one who apparently calls the shots in the band. Therefore, these "solo" efforts distract him and, therefore, prevent the band from digging out rare old gems and playing them live (or releasing dvds of old shows). Other than old "hits", he mostly ignores rare old songs anymore and totally ignores songs off Ruts, DWM, etc.
imho, setlists from the last tour were more the exception than the rule with K&Q and a few other rotated gems. Otherwise, we've all seen sets where about the only 70s songs played were WTW, DO & SE. Who made that decision? ST. Why did he make it? That brings us back to the subject of this thread.

I'm pretty sure this only a TV program anyway, not an album. But the principle is the same either way, I get that.

^ Ok it makes more sense now. The way Steven dithers and slows down recording I was going to ask Christmas album? WHAT YEAR?
While I'm not a country music fan I do like some of it and I love Steven's voice, so it would depend on what he actually does before I totally pan it and call it sh!t. It might have a decent song or two on it.

No argument here. But Aerosmith's output in the 70s seemed to be the product of the entire bands unified focus. The band was aligned with what it wanted to be. I am good with Aerosmith stretching out, but it is no longer unified, and seems like Steven has left the building and drug the band with him.

Since Steven calls the shots, the entire band is affected by his distractions. Since I don't care if they record any more new stuff, I wouldn't really care (other than being embarrassed for ST) if it wasn't for the fact that (imo) THAT is what is causing them not to dig deeply into setlists anymore and pull out songs like NobodysFault, The Hop, Bone to Bone, Adams Apple, Lick, etc. It's as if the "new ST" is ashamed of those songs. THAT bothers me.

On that recording in one of the threads the radio host said in an interview with Tom that ST went in with aeries Underwood after everyone had left to records the Duet and then told everyone it was going on the record. It seems everyones blame of him on pop songs, which I don't mind them, is spot on.

I have to disagree on a few things...back in the '70's, Steven was the driving force of the band, a band that couldn't even tune their own guitars, couldn't read or write music etc, but back then he appeared to listen to all input from everyone and then {perfect?} it?
Steven's father did all the first lot of transposing for songs like 'Dream On'.
