Is AC/DC calling it quits? Might be...might not be....not stated in lower paragraphs, but apparently Malcolm Young had a stroke and they aren't sure about his recovery. www.news.com.au/entertainment/fans-hope-for-the-best-as-rumours-swirl-about-malcolm-youngs-health-and-acdcs-future/story-e6frfmq9-1226884658411MUSIC fans are waiting for rock band AC/DC to confirm or deny the latest rumours over their future. Whispers surfaced this morning that the band’s 40th anniversary tour may be axed due to the health of one member, with some suggesting guitarist Malcolm Young may be unwell. MORE: AC/DC’s greatest moments The band’s publicist has yet to comment and there has been no official statement from the notoriously private band on the new retirement speculation. Showbiz commentator Peter Ford tweeted “there was some sad detail” behind the rumoured decision. Earlier, Ford said on 3AW radio that his information was that “we may never hear them perform or record ever again”. AC/DC, formed in November 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, are one of the highest-grossing bands of all time. They have sold over 200 million albums over the past 40 years. Fans had anticipated an anniversary tour to mark either their formation in November 1973 or the release of High Voltage in February 1975. Back in 2012 singer Brian Johnson revealed work on their 16th album had been delayed due to a health issue with one member.

This is sad, sad news. I hadn't heard about this. Best of luck to Malcolm for a quick recovery.

I have a buddy that is HUGE AC/DC fan. He travels around the country seeing them and dresses up like Angus at the show. He actually has been saying for awhile now that he didn't think they would tour again due to Malcolm's health.
If this is true, it is very sad indeed. I am lucky to have seen them twice but was definaetly not missing the next show if there was one.

Very sad indeed. Saw them twice with Bon, but never with Brian. HTH and BIB were such strong albums, nothing held my interest after. Still, from what I see in video, they continued to put on a powerful show.

Yes, they definitely still put on a powerful show. I've seen them twice, both with Brian, and the place was rockin' from the stage to the rafters both times.

Look at the crowd here. On their feet rocking for every song. I saw this show last night on tv and was jealous that Aerosmith shows have lost their once rocking aura. That's what happens when you alienate your original base, something AC/DC never did.

That is why bands always film their DVD's there. Those fans are amazing, check out the Nightrain video I posted in the Slash thread. One of my dreams is to go to a show there someday. That being said, even in the States AC/DC crowds are great. Over the last 10 years Aerosmith crowds have become some the lamest out there.

Very sad news indeed my favorite band since I was 8 years old. Definitely hope Malcolm recovers first and foremost.
That said Brian Johnson's comments give more than a glimmer of hope so praying for the best.

that's awful. I wish him a full recovery. My mother's friend had a stroke a few years ago, and she still talks rather slowly and has trouble walking and moving, but she's all there cognitively, and she lives independently and has a really good life.
So, although it might be hard for him to get back out on the road with AC/DC, I think he should be able to recover well enough to enjoy many other aspects of his life!

I imagine it says this in the article, but I read that Malcolm has a blood clot and can not remember how to play the guitar.

I still remember Aerosmith shows when everyone was on their feet start to finish. But that was back when they were energized and rocked your ass off from start to finish.

I was lucky enough to see them from the 2nd row in Sydney. The home town energy was deafening!

I was shocked to hear about this. I would have loved to have seen AC/DC sometime soon.

But that was back when they were energized and rocked your ass off from start to finish. Yep Yep Yep. When I saw Aerosmith in the 70's, even the 80's, the crowd was into the entire show. Embarrassing disclosure here, but I haven't seen the band since the PV tour. Life (kids) came along and I had other priorities for our limited finances at the time. Yet ,what I have seen in video lends credence to the argument that the young casual fans who go to hear Cryin' and IDWMAT are generally bored and preoccupied during the rest of the show--until Walk This Way. Look at the Toys tour. I would have been in near heaven (well, if Brad had been there). Yet the band dispensed with the endeavor due to crowds who didn't know what they were privileged to hear. Really, the band kind of shot themselves in the foot in regards to their classic material. We (hard rock fans) want to hear it, but we don't fill up the stadiums anymore. The success of the bands MTV hits has now put the classic material (even the newer rockin' songs) in the deep shadows. Bummer.
