If we're going to discuss politics in this thread (which we're not), I have two words for you: Lauren Boebert Nothing wrong with her.

Some "journalists" Two eight month old white tiger cubs arrived at a zoo in Romania. And according to ProTV, they're a rare tiger subspecies... except that's only because whoever came up with the text for that article isn't just someone who doesn't know shit about cats, it's also someone who couldn't be bothered who do one simple internet search. White tigers are not a rare tiger subspecies. They're just a white variation of the same damn tiger subspecies later mentioned in the article - the Bengal tiger (which, while classified as endangered, is still the least endangered of the tiger subspecies). White individuals are now indeed rare to non-existing in the wild, due to the shrinking numbers of Bengal tigers in general on a peninsula whose human population exploded to a billion and a half. But they aren't that rare in captivity because clueless people like the ProTV journalists fawn over them, so there's a demand for them as eye candy. Which has lead to inbreeding and health problems. So I hope the two newly arrived cubs are healthy. They're definitely cute, but so are normal tiger cubs.

Mao Zedong. Or what happens when you get an uneducated idiot in charge...
China, 1958. He ordered that all sparrows in the country should be killed because it was suspected that one sparrow could eat up 2 kilos (4 pounds) of grain a year and OMG, do you understand how much money were lost this way? Stupid propaganda songs about how pest-free areas are great, force people to take part in the killings... and sparrows were exterminated from China!
Unfortunately, sparrows were also eating locusts and other insects that destroyed crops. Mix in a drought, some floods after that, add in the fact that lots of people from rural areas who normally took care of crops were forcefully relocated to cities because workers were needed there for the "great" leader's plans of quick industrial progress. You get the recipe for the deadliest famine in history that may have killed up to over 50 million people.
Because the idiot at the top had a problem with how much a bird that's less than the size of a small bar of chocolate eats.
Fast forward a few years, China had to import a quarter million sparrows from the Soviet Union to begin solving the locust problem.
---
Fucked up thing, it's not like there wasn't a precedent of what can happen. In the Middle Ages, cats being linked to Satan lead to them being killed in large numbers, which lead to an increase in the number of rats... which happened to be carrying the bubonic plague.

People who have nothing better to do than hurt a poor animal. Mom told me they found Taj with the head all swollen and bloody and it really looks like someone must have beaten him up. Taj is an old chubby dog hanging around at the factory where she works, wagging his tail for food and sleeping in a bed they've made for him in a warehouse. And today, on two separate occasions, I saw kids kicking pigeons. Apparently, that's a lot more fun for kids today than building a snowman or sliding down the snow...

I usually don't like to post links only to articles, but there's no easy way around this one...worth the click though.

Me.
Last year, bought a BahnCard at a 50% off promo. It's basically a discount card for rail travel in Germany. It was good for all I've used it. But I forgot to cancel it in time because it's not there's a lot of travel going to happen for me from now on and now the full price is a fifth of what I make in a month.

I facepalmed. A handful of consecutive platinum albums, played 15K+ capacity venues on last autumn's euro tour, but sure, one hit wonder from the '80s...

I can't believe this even needs to be said, but don't use the train tracks as your toilet. On returning from Rockstadt tonight, it was full of police cars. Two girls got hit by a train as they were peeing.
