I read on UCR that this years Ted Nugent tour racks him up over 6 500 live shows in his career. I had a quick look to see how many live shows Aerosmith have done and come up with many conflicting numbers. Some count their free performances at Boston U before they really kicked off and some also seem to include cancelled shows.
Does anybody know how many live shows they have actually played (concert wise), if the starting point is the Nipmuc High School show that they quote as their first?

No idea, but 6500 sounds really high to me. I'll try some napkin math...
They tour pretty much every year, each tour has, I don't know, 30 stops? So, 40 years x 30 = 1200 shows.
On the other hand, if you take 6500 shows and divide by 40 years, it comes to 162.5 per year. Again, that sounds really high. That would be roughly 3 shows per week all year long.

Keep in mind, after Aero's second coming 4 consecutive tours ranged between 150 & 229 shows. My napkin math, courtesy of Vindaloo setlists, has the count at approximately 1,988 shows and that's NOT counting all the private gigs, special events, tv appearances etc.

I had no idea they played that many shows in a single tour. I guess some of the tours spanned multiple years though, so that makes sense. For example, The Global Warming Tour is in what, year 4 now? Or is it officially changed to Let Rock Rule?

JP said it's officially Let Rock Rule . . . Nine was the longest tour I think, like 3 years nearly non-stop, that's the 229 shows if memory serves.

I can't believe that Ted Nugent would rack up more dates than Aerosmith. His was the 6 500 dates this year according to UCR, I thought Aerosmith would be more than Ted and I was thinking 2 to 3 thousand career wise for Aerosmith. God only knows what each site counts as a live concert though!

I think Ted could have that many. Aero almost has 2k, take into account all their looong months in studios, drugged up, broken up... tours canceled because of vox & what-not. Ted on the other hand was a drug-free war-horse, and has kept the pace pretty steady. So yeah, I think Ted's done that many and I think if Aero had maintained the same steady pace all these decades they would have much higher numbers than Ted.

^ You are more than likely right! I guess I just am not much of a Nugent fan.
I know the PUMP tour lasted over 2 years and they were doing 3 to 4 shows a week for a lot of it.

Odd, that didn't post.
I posted but it disappeared that krawhitham would probably have the count of how many shows Aerosmith has performed. Has anyone found him and told him about this place?

Many of them do know about the new forum but are waiting until the old one cashes out before making the switch.

I think SweetE has signed up already, but not posted yet.
Just for the record, I haven't sent out any personal invites, but I'm glad some of you are spreading the word.

I don't know the exact amount but GYW thru Rocks they were playing constantly back to back nights etc I doubt they were playing only 30 or 40 shows a year during that span.

That's where I got my numbers, Jeff . . . he doesn't have non-tour gigs numbered tho, even though there's a lot of them.
