There's a place for everything. On the field in front of hardworking, patriotic fans who are paying hundreds of dollars to watch these bozos is not the proper venue for political gestures. They are trying to make it into a freedom of speech or expression issue, which it isn't. It's about being appropriate or inappropriate.
If they want to do some good in this regard, why don't they offer community service to get people off drugs, out of crime, etc. so the police (who they are mainly protesting against) won't need to deal with them in the first place.
What's your take on this?

Pisses me off. Have some respect for your country and the men who died to give you your freedom to be a dick like this.

“Men died for your freedoms, so don’t you dare go exercising them!” If they want to protest police brutality, in this manner, so be it. If ‘45 wants to make a huge deal of it, to detract from the fact that he once again has failed to “repeal and replace” then he’s an ass, especially as there are millions in Puerto Rico without basic amenities right now...

There are better ways to express your freedom of speech than spitting in the face of the country that gave you those rights. Do they have the right? Absolutely. Do I agree with the method? Fuck no. That's my right.

Unmmm not sure how they’re spitting in the face of the country.
Given the laws banning the use of the flag in advertising, or from being used in clothing or items that could be thrown away, i’m assuming you consider anyone wearing stars & stripes apparel is also spitting in the face of the country? And you’d never buy from a company using the flag in adverts or on packaging?

Unmmm not sure how they’re spitting in the face of the country. Tradition states that you stand for the national anthem (if able). By kneeling they are showing that they don't respect the traditions of the USA. How does not standing translate to a protest of police brutality? It seems to me there are better ways to show their opposition to that cause, which I am also opposed to, of course. Who isn't? I don't see anything wrong with wearing the stars and stripes. I do see a problem with stamping on the flag or burning it in protest. It may sound cliche, but if people hate this country they are free to leave. Why stay somewhere that you hate? I know I wouldn't.

By kneeling they are showing that they don't respect the traditions of the USA. That’s you applying your internal logic to their actions. Just because something is traditional doesn’t make it right! And there’s no laws that say you have to stand... As an outsider looking in, from what I have seen/read that is what the first player doing this said it was about. Then Trump got involved and made it about himself to try and cover up a very bad news week! How does not standing for the national anthem equate to hating the country? Again you appear to be applying your internal logic to someone else’s actions... It’s amazing what counts as disrespecting the flag, but what seems to be ignored or even approved of by the vast majority of Americans : www.usflag.org/us.code36.html#176

You make it sound like applying internal logic is something to be ashamed of, lol.

Its just the latest in the diversionary tactics used by the government to get us up in arms about something stupid while health care drags on and North Korea and the US get ready for the ultimate pissing contest. People are such sheep on facebook screaming and cussing and insulting each other over this that I could no longer take it and it gave me the kick in the ass I have been looking for to deactivate my facebook account.

I am done with the NFL. I am sick of hearing millionaire players and billionaire owners crying about being oppressed. Go live in North Korea and then come back and tell me how oppressed you are.

They are paid a lot of money to be there and get their head in the game. They take the time to think about what knee to go down on. They think about what people think of them as they are on their knee. And so on and on. The reason they are paid millions is to defeat the other team. Instead of having 100% of their brain on that goal they are taking time to protest. It is not freedom of speech. They are employees and new contracts signed in the future should allow teams to be able to fire them immediately if they pull shit like this in the future.
