OK...Joe just lost all his rock credibility with this...I don’t know if he was high, or joking, but if he’s serious, this maybe explains why we haven’t had a great album in about 40 years...
The 7:07 mark of this video is where it’s at...

I didn't watch the whole thing, but he never says "IDWTMAT (was the) most proud moment of Aerosmith", so you are not fair here... He only said this song "stays with him". And I can understand that - first no.1 single ever, that's gotta count for something. And I think it's a fairly nice song. Don't get me wrong - I'll take any song from the first albums and most other albums too, over it any day, but it's not that bad of a ballad. Not a rocker, sure, but... you know. The problem is, I'd say, it is OVERPLAYED to the point of being unbearable and cheesy. But that doesn't make the song itself bad. I drifted off topic...

How old is this video? and it's nothing shocking from Joe. He has always been apologetic about Aero's lesser music since the comeback. Always has stood by the sappy ballads, defended JPP mercilessly, constantly referred to himself as "An entertainer" first wile the response "I'm as musician" never comes out of his mouth. How he could have "just" lost his rocker credibility based on a video that's 5 or 6 years old at least is beyond me. It's very consistent with where he's stood since PV when he equated Angel and Dream On with equal credibility since both where ballads.

Yeah, the video is certainly more than 6 years old. But I actually recall him being critical of JPP and (later on) of MFAD.
And I'd personally think criticism of one's work is more honest than praise. Maybe more on that later, have to run now!

^^ he has kind of changed his tune on JPP etc. over the past few years but.... too late. He's been Tyler's biggest enabler when making records like JPP & some of GAG. If he'd have stood some ground.. any ground when they were making them better music could have resulted who knows. Recanting too far after the fact mattered little.

Meh, I don't see what the big deal is. Besides the sensationalized thread title totally misinterpreting what he said, who really cares if he likes that song? I don't like it, but plenty of people do. I'd agree with him more if he said he didn't like it, but since he recorded it and played it so many times he might as well own it. I find that more respectable than speaking out of both sides of his mouth where if people like something it was his doing, and if they don't it was someone else's fault like Steven, Kalodner, or the record company.
They've released a ton of great songs, their image and credibility are safe. Sure some of the resident trolls... I mean expert commentators on Blabbermouth may disagree. I'm sure if they post their contributions to rock history, they'll find their opinions about how to be a rock star are weighted accordingly.

He's been Tyler's biggest enabler when making records like JPP & some of GAG. Recanting too far after the fact mattered little. I dunno why anyone would even call Joe an "enabler," because that insinuates Joe Perry "gives in" to Steven's demands for a poppier sound. I don't think thats true at all. I think he's a big player, maybe not equal to Steven, but still a substantial amount, in the path the band has taken post comeback. Joe played guitar on every one of Aerosmith's poppiest songs, including IDWMAT and EVERY. SINGLE. TRACK. on Just Push Play. In fact, Just Push Play is one of the few albums Joe Perry is credited as PRODUCING! I do think Joe is more rock-n-roll on his own. He plays guitar for a living and we've heard his solo material. But it beats me as to why anyone thinks Joe Perry is super anti-commercial or anti-pop rock. He is credited as a CO-WRITER on Girls of Summer guys. If he hated it, he either wouldn't have helped write it, or he would've had his name taken off of it.

Don't forget that Joe hated Dream On for years. Dream On, one of Aerosmith's crowning achievements and one of classic rock's finest songs. And he openly laughed at it on stage.
We're all allowed to like or dislike songs and we're all allowed to change our opinions. Simple as that.

I think I remember when Brad was talking about how he wanted to do an old school album, the vote was 4-1 against him.
Also, in Joe’s defense, there was another old video where they were doing a set list and Joe said, “How come Lord of the Thighs isn’t on here? Is someone’s fingers tired?”
