I figured it was time to turn in my 10 year old Toyota RAV4 for a new model. I ended spending more money than I wanted but I got a ‘23 RAV4 Hybrid. It’s really nice and has all kinds of bells and whistles. It’s amazing the difference in technology over 10 years. It’s got push button start, you can lock and unlock the door by just being near the car with the FOB. I can even lock, unlock and start the car through my phone. As long as I have my phone with me I have navigation on my display screen and it also shows you upcoming turns and exits on the dash board. The best part is the 40MPG gas mileage. I didn’t know if I would like a hybrid at first, but so far I love it. Just my luck though, I already got a rock from the road through my windshield. Safelite is coming out tomorrow and they think they can do a repair which would be good so I wouldn’t lose the factory seal. At least the repair is free with my insurance. If they do have to replace the window, the deductible is waved in Florida.

Toyotas are great, I've had many, and my wife used to have a Rav4 Hybrid as well. We each have a Mazda CX5 now, with all the same features you mentioned, so enjoying those as well.

I love Toyotas as well. I had a Camry for over a decade and never had to take it in to the shop once. I now have a Nissan Altima and it's okay has the same bells and whistles as your new Rav4. I gave my Camry to my sister because she needed a car and it's still going strong at about 200K miles. The reason I didn't get another Camry is at the time none were available and I would have to wait until it was manufactured three months from the point I needed a new car. Although this happened, others who dealt with dealerships tell me if this is a thing for you. The Toyota dealership I went to did have a Camry in stock. I ended up not buying from them because they tried to charge me an additional 750 dollars because I was not doing a trade-in. Their argument was they were losing a car in the deal and not getting a replacement so it was almost like a re-stocking fee. I said for the amount of money I was paying for a new car I didn't give a damn what they had left on the lot after I drove off and I then left. I never heard of this before. Is it really a thing?
Jason just had a piece of gravel hit his windshield on the turnpike. Thankfully it was just a little crack that didn't spread. We were able to patch it with the kit and it held.

Never heard of the restocking BS. They tried to stick me on the interest rate though. Only thing, I knew my credit score and I knew I could go to my local credit union and what I got for a rate. So I got their 10% interest down to 6%. I got the windshield crack repaired. It came out pretty good. I as glad I could keep my factory seal.

Dealerships are pulling all sorts of financial shenanigans during this "vehicle shortage". Buyer beware.
Another thumbs-up for Toyota. Have owned them for many years, and they're consistently problem-free. Always my first choice. We recently replaced my wife's Rav with a Highlander, and I'm using the old Rav as a work vehicle. Currently sitting at 458,000 km. No major repairs. It'll hit at least 500,000.

Toyotas are great, reliable cars. I also recently got a new second-hand car. Given italian crazy traffic limtiations on older models because of severe pollution, I had to look for a more modern car, either a hybrid or a petrol engine with good mileage and somewhat of a "green" status. Coming from a 1999 Audi A4 Sedan with a turbo charged 1.8 petrol engine and 180 horse power, I didn't feel ok in going for a severe downgrade. I also dislike SUVs and I don't need that kinda space so I found a little japanese gem, a Honda CR-Z. It's a hybrid but with a manual transmission, it has an electric motor but the whole car is still fairly light. It was a bit ahead of its times (released in 2010) and it didn't have much success so it's quite a rare model but with Honda reliability and a nice niche of enthusiasts. I was lucky that the nearest vendor had the full optional model in my favorite color and with one of the lowest pricings. I am very happy about it! It's a small 1.5 petrol engine but it's a fun V-TEC with a little added boost in torque given by the electrical batteries. BTW I love Scotty Kilmer YT channel. Do you guys know him? Attachments:
