I have been long opting for "Make It" as an opener... I mean, come on - what could be a better opening line than "Good evening people, welcome to the show"?! First album, first track, last played 20 years ago! If they don’t open at least a couple of shows on this tour with Make It, they are totally missing the boat. Well these are the guys who just came off the Deuces Are Wild Tour and managed to not play a single note of the song the tour was named after.

I feel their setlist decisions are based on some misconceptions. Everyone in the crowd doesn't have to recognize every song. Sure, if they stack 3-4 deep cuts in a row, the casuals will start to get restless, but the crowd energy is going to fluctuate throughout the evening regardless. It's a bit insulting when they act like IDWTMAT is the only song fans know outside of Greatest Hits or Big Ones.
If they want the crowd more engaged, don't hold onto the Big 3 until the last 3 spots. Scatter those throughout the setlist mixed in with some deep cuts.
Some songs are going to get bigger pops than others, that's the case for every band. There's a fairly large segment at each show that is going to go on 3 beer runs\piss breaks. That's just how they do shows, and those are usually the people that make the most noise when they think they hear anything familiar. Their reaction is to start flopping around, sing along at the top of their lungs, and usually spill beer on those around them.
I think when those of us who have been to 20 or more shows hear a deep cut, our reaction is to be quite and take it in. To those watching the crowd, the first reaction is more noticeable, while the second reaction is more impacted by the song.
Mixing it up is the way to go. But if we are doing Dares\requests I've been to 20 shows, and have heard Cryin' 22 times. I Milluple Dog Dare them, to swap out Cryin' for ANYTHING else...
Please???

I have a feeling a lot of people here are going to want to start throwing rotten tomatoes at me for saying it... ... and AeroCooper is probably going to want to ban me ... but the intensity of the reactions might also have something to do with the age. Everyone who grew up with the '70s and even '80s deep cuts they don't play anymore is probably past a certain age. At the same time, the big hits like Cryin' or IDWTMAT are still played on mainstream radio to this day, so even a teenager is going to be familiar with them. And a teenager has a different level of energy and can jump non-stop for a lot longer. As much as I love BLF and as much as I feel the need to jump, I cannot physically jump for the entire duration of it non-stop without a few seconds to catch my breath here and there... and that's a short song! Even less of a chance for anything longer. Like The Hop. Or Rats, lol... I'll die... But I would still absolutely love to hear these songs live. Though The Hop without Joey...

I agree age has something to do with it, and the times also play a part. In my region of America, every show I go to the crowd is more tame than the previous. It makes me crazy that everyone wants to sit like they are watching a movie for all but the first 3 minutes of any given concert these days. People will literally get mad at you if you stand up and block their lazy ass view.

Who knows, maybe someone reads this forum, thinks "ah, screw you!" and decides to prove us wrong Sick As a Dog Every time I see Joe I say to him "I still can't believe you played Sick as a Dog at Wembley in 1999!" 🤣

PIT/GA is where I feel most "appropriate" But I get it that not everybody is able to stand for 3 or more hours...

^ And Pit/GA is not available everywhere. I do like the option of a seat, I just want the damn crowd to show some life when a great song gets played.

People are... well, squishier!

Rubbing it in my face, I see... To be fair you've probably met Joe more times than I have! I've met him exactly twice, so no, not more times. And in all honesty, I meant getting to hear Sick As a Dog, not meeting Joe. Because while I haven't met Joe more times than you did, I still have met him more times than I got to hear Sick As a Dog live... exactly zero times.

Also agree that the band can get away with opening with just about anything they want and that "Make It" has potential to make an appearance. I just hope they try and mix it up as much as possible.. I have been long opting for "Make It" as an opener... I mean, come on - what could be a better opening line than "Good evening people, welcome to the show"?! First album, first track, last played 20 years ago! Sounds good but I am more than happy to see Movin' Out in there. I would gladly take that over Make It if it was to be my last show.
