Listen, I don't know what the guys are thinking or who is managing them. They cannot handle rigorous touring like they used to anymore, this is part of the reason they made the switch to Vegas from 2019-2022 (and LOOK at even how much of that got cancelled, and ended up being the decline of Joey). Even postponing this lengthy tour to next year is unrealistic. At this point, do one last show or a "final run" spread out. They could do one proper last show or a run of last shows in Boston and go out on a high note. Maybe just hit 5 major cities and do 5 shows. Boston, NY, LA, Chicago, Detroit, and Las Vegas- yes it will require fans to travel but they have done it before. I think the band going overseas at this point is unrealistic but they could essentially do the same thing overseas: 1 SA show, 1 Euro show, and a Tokyo show before they call it. Idk... just throwing ideas around. I just think major touring is not in the cards at this point. I didn't buy tickets because I had a feeling this would happen. The band has been REALLY, exceptionally flaky in the past 10 years when it comes to cancelling shows. It's not a good look. I am sorry but at this point I would not encourage anyone to travel to see them. There is too high of risk of shows getting canceled. I would say if they are able, do one final show in Boston and have it on TV and call it a career.

If you do travel to see them, it would likely need to be the first few shows once they truly get going again. Looking at the dates as they are now, I just don't see any way that Steven's voice will hold up. From October 11th, which is the next show of the tour, through December 10th they play 21 shows on that leg with never more than 3 days off between shows. That's just going to be too much for Steven. They are going to end up missing more dates.

There are some crazy fans out there, lol. But at this point, do one last big show in Boston with all 5. Go out on a high note. Record it, put it on TV, make a live album… whatever. Honestly, I wish Fenway 2022 was the last show. Especially if Joey’s really never coming back.

I wonder if Steven has opted for surgery and perhaps that could improve his durability going forward?
Assuming that what Jam Magazine reported is completely accurate; It seems odd they would go from a 30 day wait and see approach, to just conceding 3+ months with plans to resume in 'early 2024'.
Even without the sentimental hometown stuff, the HUGE gate at the NYE show would make that a top priority. If they have to skip that, I don't see starting up again just a few weeks later, unless Steven went the surgery route, in which case he'd be given more of a set recovery timeline.

Considered Toronto, as it was only four shows in, but couldn't pull the trigger. Associated upfront costs vs show likelihood tipped the scale to Pass. Figured if the tour succeeded, they may eventually show up nearby. At that point, I'd happily buy in. Now, that seems very unlikely. Simply fulfilling their committed dates seems a tough hill to climb. Such as it goes.

Said ages ago, just one massive televised gig with guests and everything. Get Joey up for a bit. Make it a 3 hour thing. All the hits and deep cuts. Plenty of opportunities for Tyler to rest his voice. Say goodbye that way. They haven't toured for years.... There's a reason for that. Couldn't even get through a Vegas residency. We all knew deep down that this run was incredibly optimistic. It's a shame, but that's life. It's time to bow out with dignity intact.

Everything officially postponed until sometime in 2024. Steven also fractured his larynx. Just brutal.
The fact that no new dates came out isn't good and it doesn't seem like they will come out soon.

"A fractured larynx occurs when a direct impact causes a break in the voice box. This is a rare but potentially life-threatening injury. Laryngeal fractures can be classified into 4 groups:
Group 1 includes minor injuries with only mild respiratory symptoms. Group 2 is moderate injuries with a degree of airway compromise and minor mucosal disruption. Groups 3 & 4 are the most serious injuries with severe airway compromise, massive swelling, cartilage exposure, mucosal tears, and vocal cord immobility. The difference between groups 3 & 4 is in treatment. Group 4 injuries require a stent."

Well, this sucks. I was hoping for something at least a little encouraging. They keep finding a bigger problem, but don't seem to offer much of a solution. It sounds like after 50+ years of doing this he's shot.

As I read more about laryngeal fracture, this is perhaps as terrible as the news could possibly be. Even with the best outcome medically, how can Steven sing knowing that he is potentially risking his life. I know I sound alarmist but wow...

Listen to his voice cracking in this. A large part of me thinks they knew that this was the end.

It must be pretty bad. Looks like they pulled all the tour merch off the website.
