"Live! Bootleg" is the first official live album by Aerosmith.
The 2LP set was released October 27th, 1978 on Columbia Records. Happy 45th year release date anniversary!
It reached #13 on Billboard's Top 200 chart and was certified platinum for sales of over a million copies.

Happy anniversary to L!B. I've gradually grown to like this album more over the years, and I've always quite admired the packaging/concept.

First 'Smiff album I bought. They were unheard of in the UK in 1984, but Kerrang ran an interview with Joe when they reunited. They just looked so fucking cool in the photos and the song titles they mentioned in the article were light years away from Iron Maiden and Twisted Sister. I was 11 and wanted a band of me own. Went into a record shop on the Saturday and looked for an album by them. And this was the one I chose because I recognised a few song titles. My word..... Changed me life. It ROCKED, but it also GROOVED and was so sloppy. Side 4.... This wasn't DIO.... This was R&B.
Love it. Still do.

THE live album for me.
Made me appreciate songs I had overlooked and made love even more songs I already loved.

I've always said that Aerosmith were the band that turned me OFF Heavy Rock. And that's very true. '83, I was into yer usual HM bollocks what was doing the rounds, but I never really liked any of it. All that fists in the camera nonsense.... These lads had more class. I started to appreciate the rhythmic and Funk to music.... Obviously 2 years later, it became apparent that it wasn't just me.... The Run DMC crossover and the Def Jam explosion. It's pretty much through Aerosmith that I really started to dig deeper into music and cultural history. They led me to everything without ever really trying. Be here all year trying to explain.

Nice! Wish we could get some type of anniversary edition. Live Bootleg Expanded.
This might have been my third or fourth Aerosmith cd. Started with Get A Grip, then Aerosmith, and then LB. I LOVED this when I first heard it. And I thought the photo of Joe Perry on the back was so unbelievably cool. I also thought it was Steven Tyler at the time.
Discovering the Aerosmith catalog was such a fun experience. Wish I could do that again

I also thought it was Steven Tyler at the time. Somehow my brain first read that as "I thought I was Steven Tyler at the time" - as in, dress up like him, play pretend. Which reminded me of a conversation I had with a friend about the people who come to the Vampires shows dressed as Jack Sparrow because that gave me the idea that a great one to surprise Joe for anyone going to those M&Gs would be to go dressed up as Steven! I would love to see Joe's reaction to something like that! Seriously, has anyone here ever thought to go to a show dressed up as Steven? I once went to AC/DC as a girl copy of Angus, but the schoolgirl look was definitely easier to pull off than Steven. I know, my mind can be a really weird place...

I think the Angus look would be pretty easy to pull off, if yer a short arse and have a school uniform. Tyler..... I'm not so sure. A unique character, and that's why we love him.

I remember when this came out. I was a junior in high school and was working at a small clothing store after school. I gave my mom some money and asked her to go to the record store and buy it the day it was released as I was working. She did. I was initially disappointing it didn't flow like the usual live album, sequenced and leveled to sound like one show, but really grew to appreciate some of the performances. For me, side 1 is perfect. Side note, I am fortunate to have found an original pressing vinyl copy with the "GTWs" logo on the front.

The Get Your Wings logo cover was the promotional version. Mine still had the DJ sticker overtop, and I had to meticulously peel it off with a blowdryer. It's not just the logo that's different either. All the lettering/stamps are placed differently as well.
Cool variant!

I bought this one as a teenager in the mid-90s. I was in shock a bit because the performances were so rough and sloppy. I eventually got over it and ended up loving the album, even though it was rough, sloppy, out-of-tune and the timing/pace of the songs was off (way too fast a lot of the time). The list of songs was just incredible on this one.
It's also the first appearance of the wings logo as Aerosmith fans came to know it. Obviously, we had seen a really early attempt at a wings logo on Get Your Wings but this was the first time that we see the fully-realized Aerosmith wings logo.

The classic logo appeared on the inner sleeve of Draw The Line. Gold on black. It was also featured on the cover, preceding the title, on certain pressings. T-shirts from the DTL tour also featured it.
