Just wanted a thread to appreciate all those fantastic Tom Hamilton bass lines over the years.
One of the first and most obvious of course is his bass line at the end of Same Old Song and Dance. Magnificence.
That is all.

He doesn't get the recognition he deserves. No other bass player in rock n roll handles slides like he does, it seems like a simple gesture but doing that he adds groove to the songs. One of the reasons I'm a bass player

Uncle Salty of course........
Some others you might not think of that are fantastic...... Jaded, F.I.N.E., and Gotta Love It.

Magnificence. That is all. Bonus points for not mentioning 'that' song in the OP. Personally I find it a little insulting when Steven introduces Tom as "Mr. Sweet Emotion" - while it is certainly an outstanding bass line and also meant as a compliment, Tom is so much more than that one contribution.
As for me, I'll throw Shut Up And Dance in the ring.

Really great subtly melodic understated bass player. And that '73 'Mother Popcorn' on Live Bootleg.... He's ace on that.

His solo on the outro of "Same old Song" on A Little South of Sanity is absolutely a masterpiece. Not only the notes he's playing, but the feel and groove. Man, blows my mind every time!

That's the one that got me thinking about this thread. Some other notable ones to me Get it Up, SOS (Too Bad), Critical Mass, and of course, Round and Round.

Steven and Joe get all the credit, but AEROSMITH IS Kramer, Hamilton, & Whitford. They make a band out of Steven and Joe.

Tom brought them McCartney-esque basslines, Joey brought the Funk. Joe had the raunch and Brad brought the solid Rock. And then there's Tyler.... How I've always looked at the mighty 'Smiff, and one of the reasons they will always be one of the greatest Rock 'n' Roll bands to have ever existed.

Tom holds Dude Looks Like a Lady together with that cool bass line. Can't wait to listen to Permanent Vacation tonight.
