Two things......
How is it that TMZ has the official scoop before the band can release this info themselves???
Secondly, although open heart surgery is not to be taken lightly, it's certainly not doom and gloom.
In fact Glenn Hughes just had it done recently.
In fact Hughes' words could have been echoed by Kramer himself.
Hughes went through heart surgery less than four months prior to replace his aortic valve, and survived subsequent near-fatal complications.
"For some reason I wasn't frightened. I felt like I was going to be OK, but I'm still supremely grateful to be here," Hughes, whose doctors had been watching his aorta since he got sober in 1991, tells Billboard. "For me to still be doing this at my age (62) with what I've been through with drink and drugs..."

Wishing the best for Joey. He did one hell of a job when I saw them two weeks ago.

Yeah, Joey works out all the time and eats right according to his wife and book. I thought Joey played exceptionally well at the Mansfield show (now mistakes... lol) but he looked like he was in pain while he was playing. His fills have been great lately, too. Usually he gets lazy. Unfortunately even eating well and working out on consistent basis won't stop heart disease. It can often go undetected even by the best doctors. The genetic variety can bite you at any age and in particular at the age of the guys in the band. We had a family friend who had a heart attack and has now rebounded well after a few weeks after his surgery. Hopefully Joey will do the same, if it is in fact the issue that we're speculating about. I had nuclear treadmills every year. I got within two years of when my father had bypass and my treadmill came out prefect. I told the cardiologist I wanted a angiogram and he said wait a year. you will be fine. I said please!!! After my bypass the next day after the angiogram he told me I would not have made it the year.

Sad to hear. Joey's a beast. He'll pull through this no problem.

Say what you will about how Joey drums, but nobody hits as hard as him! Get well soon!

TMZ was mentioned earlier. I think it is kinda cool they covered him in their news. Obviously not cool he has to go through it. www.tmz.com

This is something basic I'm sure he'll pull through fine. A blocked artery is usually cleared up with an angioplasty which is a very basic operation. Joey works out pretty frequently and I don't see him having any complications. Good vibes people. He'll be on his feet pounding those drums in no time. Have faith

I do not give a crap how I found out about this. That is the least important thing. I am glad that Joey found out what was going on before anything happened....which is the most important thing. And that he is getting the help he needs to deal with it. Having lost someone to coronary artery disease because they did not know....this hits home....hard.

I am glad Joey did too, as I am with Since1976. And the good news is, that these heart procedures are usually very successful and the patient feels better than ever before. My father in law is about 10 years older than Joey and he had triple bypass, complicated by diabetes, and he is better than he ever was. He's in great shape. Like Joey, he was in pretty good physical shape otherwise prior to the surgery. Anyway, I'm hoping Joey will have the same results and he'll be hitting them hard for a long time to come.

You do know TMZ pays people for their stories and pictures right? I sent them an email back before they started to get big over the fact that Chris Benoit toys were still being sold at Target several days after he murdered his family and killed himself and I got an email back requesting a picture and if possible a receipt showing a date on it. The offer? $3,500 just for a picture of the toy shelf. I passed because it wasn't right to make money off of a death like that but they do offer serious money for BIG stories and pretty good change for minor stories that make their website. Someone that worked with the band probably made a few grand off of releasing the story to TMZ first.

This reminds me of a joke I heard...to keep it light hearted in such a depressing day here goes...This is why I don't run or do any exercise! I believe your heart only has a certain amount of beats before it stops beating...and if you exercise it will only make your heart beat faster and your heart will stop beating quicker!

Scary but true, if you don't commit suicide nobody on this planet has any idea how long they'll live. Eating healthy and excising is great but in the end it may not really matter. Enjoying your life and spending time with your family/friends is all you can control. That's why I've never chased the highest paying jobs in my field, I'd rather have a consistent time I get home at night to spend with my kids and wife. A higher paying salary to give that up isn't worth it! Getting this back to Joey and the band I'm actually really happy for them all that they've all seemed to have found a happy lot in life for themselves. They all seem to be content which is really important in life, despite the band drama they all seem to have great home lives and I think that shows when they play live together.
