This reminds me of a joke I heard...to keep it light hearted in such a depressing day here goes...This is why I don't run or do any exercise! I believe your heart only has a certain amount of beats before it stops beating...and if you exercise it will only make your heart beat faster and your heart will stop beating quicker! Scary but true, if you don't commit suicide nobody on this planet has any idea how long they'll live. Eating healthy and excising is great but in the end it may not really matter. Enjoying your life and spending time with your family/friends is all you can control. That's why I've never chased the highest paying jobs in my field, I'd rather have a consistent time I get home at night to spend with my kids and wife. A higher paying salary to give that up isn't worth it! Getting this back to Joey and the band I'm actually really happy for them all that they've all seemed to have found a happy lot in life for themselves. They all seem to be content which is really important in life, despite the band drama they all seem to have great home lives and I think that shows when they play live together. This is true...I had a teacher and wrestling coach in high school that was healthy in every way. Ate right, exercised and was in excellent health. He ended up getting cancer and dying while in his 40s. You just never know what is going to happen. It was sad because he did a lot of good things for the kids in his neighborhood and throughout the community. He used to have movie nights and give kids free hair cuts and did a lot for the kids. It was a terrible loss for the community.

Ok, Linda needs to put out a release or the Aero-camp does, if she doesn't want the media running with misinformation!

Only the band or their family members should issue the facts and not let TMZ or anyone else do the talking for them.

That's the exact problem if you don't get ahead of the story places like TMZ will pay a few grand and run with a story if they can prove even an ounce of truth to it. While tragic I think what Robin Williams family/wife did with their press releases was the right thing to do. Send a release out and let everyone know that the entire release should be printed if it's printed at all.

Two things......
How is it that TMZ has the official scoop before the band can release this info themselves???
Secondly, although open heart surgery is not to be taken lightly, it's certainly not doom and gloom.
In fact Glenn Hughes just had it done recently.
In fact Hughes' words could have been echoed by Kramer himself.
Hughes went through heart surgery less than four months prior to replace his aortic valve, and survived subsequent near-fatal complications.
"For some reason I wasn't frightened. I felt like I was going to be OK, but I'm still supremely grateful to be here," Hughes, whose doctors had been watching his aorta since he got sober in 1991, tells Billboard. "For me to still be doing this at my age (62) with what I've been through with drink and drugs..."
You do know TMZ pays people for their stories and pictures right? I sent them an email back before they started to get big over the fact that Chris Benoit toys were still being sold at Target several days after he murdered his family and killed himself and I got an email back requesting a picture and if possible a receipt showing a date on it. The offer? $3,500 just for a picture of the toy shelf. I passed because it wasn't right to make money off of a death like that but they do offer serious money for BIG stories and pretty good change for minor stories that make their website. Someone that worked with the band probably made a few grand off of releasing the story to TMZ first. I was thinking more medical staff, I would think anyone working for Aerosmith would have to sign an NDA (non disclosure agreement). When I worked in the entertainment industry they were common even if you only worked one show at your home venue, you couldn't say a word about anything for usually 5 years, some were life binding. Doctors are the same with nothing signed but not other medical staff. I also had a thought on what Joey may have had done that was heart related but a simple procedure, can't remember the correct name but my father had it done 10 or 12 years ago and was good to go within 48 hours. Because of his previous life threatening bout with cancer he was still having 5 year check-ups where they did a million and one tests and one of those tests showed what they called plaque build up somewhere in or around his heart. It was day surgery and they put a small cut in his groin, fed a wire from there to his heart and this little brush popped out of the end of the wire when it was in the right place and scrubbed the plaque away. I was told to keep an eye on him for 48 hours. Dad had no heart attack and no chest pain, it was picked up on routine tests for his post cancer check-up. Maybe Joey has something similar done without even knowing he had a problem? Dad's oncologist picked it up and he had it done the next day by I think a vascular surgeon.

This is not correct. I work in the IT dept of a nursing home and am unfortunately very familiar with the thousands of pages that make up HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)
The gist of HIPAA is that it legally prevents any and all health information from being disclosed or discussed by anyone, except where it relates directly to the patient's health care. There are extreme fines for doing so. The first violation I believe results in $150,000 but the amount seems to be arbitrary from what I have seen. Whole institutes have been shut down due to this on occasion.

America must be a bit different to here, twice I have gotten really pissed to have people tell me something medical about myself that they just shouldn't know and twice I couldn't do squat about it even though I knew the exact person that told them. Unless it has changed in the last 5 years or so then it is still the same. I even had a go at my daughter for ringing me with test results and said you better not do that with anyone else or you will be out of a job, she said about that, no I won't, she was originally hired as the office manager and had that privacy thing as an automatic, when she started training as an actual phlebotomist and pathologist that no longer applied until she became the resident pathologist at an exclusive private hospital.
