^^ As much as I am indifferent to Steven recording a solo album (much less country), I do quite like this. I am not really a Willie Nelson fan, but I do stop to watch if he is on TV in a live performance. His guitar playing is so tasteful (and that guitar!). I even have grown to appreciate his vocal style. This "duet" is fun. Steven still sounds like a rock singer, though.

I been listening to the great Johnny Cash and got thinking about Steven covering some JC songs.

I really don't get all this hate towards country music. I am not american, I am definitely very far from republican politics but I do enjoy country tunes and there are tons of incredible country artists out there so I really don't see the point in having such a prejudice about Steven doing a country album.

Not to pick, but I don't see how any clear thinking person can say he/she would buy ANYTHING somebody puts out. What if it was a record where he sang "Merry Christmas, my Dear Easter Bunny" the whole way throughout the album? Dumb example, I know, but you get my point. Shouldn't we ask ourselves if it is a wise investment first?

I don't think most of us care what he does. It's his life. But I don't like country. It's been around as long as I remember, and I live in Virginia so it's always been popular here But I still don't like it.

wise investment, it's not like I am buying a house. LOL....

I respect your opinion. I've always been much more an Aerosmith fan than ST fan. Then again nowadays, even that is wading. By that, I mean their "newer" stuff, not the old stuff. I will take that old stuff like Thighs, Rats, Lick, etc. with me into my grave. Peace be with you all.

I totally agree I still remember hearing Aerosmith for the first time. Plus buying Rocks and putting it on the turntable it blew me away. The newer songs I like some I love.. Fever, I feel could of been on Rocks. What it takes, I love, I should hate it but the lyrics almost mirror my marriage, well, ex marriage. Pink because its so dirty. I could go on but I probably bored you already.
Steven is Steven, we all know that. The guy to me is the greatest front man ever, the man can sing, and honestly he cracks me up. he is a crazy mofo. So I separate Steven sometimes away from the music in the way I dig that he way that he is cool, crazy, loving and the never ending wild spirit.
I enjoyed discussing this with you. I hope you have a great Sunday...

I also used to dig his crazy, wild, free spirit. I thought it formed part of "badass" image I had of the band, and I also thought it influenced their music in a positive (hard rocking) way. But then things seemed to start changing with him. He still had the same crazy, wild, free spirit, but now it was more about being flamboyant and "in your face" than about badass. His focus was more about publicity, attention and popular music than about hard rocking stuff. Maybe the drugs in the early days covered that up. Anyway, that began to change my opinion about him. I also enjoyed this discussion. Have a nice weekend as well.
