Aerosmith ‘Baying at the Moon’ Bootleg Now Available on Vinylby Jeff Giles October 13, 2014 10:21 AM A vintage performance from Aerosmith‘s classic ’70s era has made its way back to collectors. Titled ‘Baying at the Moon,’ the 2-LP set repackages the March 28, 1978 show that’s made the rounds on the bootleg circuit for years, capturing the Boston legends paying a visit to their hometown during a tour in support of the ‘Draw the Line‘ album. Although it’s easily available via YouTube or various traders’ sites, this latest edition presses the 19-track set list onto vinyl for a limited edition, 1,000-copy run. As with most unofficial live recordings of the era, buyers shouldn’t expect pristine audio fidelity, although the source tapes for ‘Baying at the Moon’ are probably a little higher-quality than most, as the show was originally broadcast live on Boston’s WBCN FM. It’s out now at import prices, and it’s also available on CD — or you can just stream it right here. Aerosmith ‘Baying at the Moon’ track listing: Introduction ‘Rats in the Cellar’ ‘I Wanna Know Why’ ‘Big Ten Inch Record’ ‘Walk This Way’ ‘Sight for Sore Eyes’ ‘Seasons of Wither’ ‘Sweet Emotion’ ‘Lord of the Thighs’ ‘Kings and Queens’ ‘Chip Away the Stone’ ‘Get the Lead Out’ ‘Get It Up’ ‘Draw the Line’ ‘Same Old Song and Dance’ ‘Toys in the Attic’ ‘Milk Cow Blues’ ‘Train Kept A-Rollin” Outro Read More: Aerosmith 'Baying at the Moon' Bootleg Now Available on Vinyl | ultimateclassicrock.com/aerosmith-baying-at-the-moon/?trackback=tsmclip

Something about this makes me want it. Probably because it is on vinyl. Pretty sure i have this in mp3, but vinyl would be neat if the packaging is cool

Pretty sure i have this in mp3, but vinyl would be neat if the packaging is cool UCR is a few months behind, I have had mine here in Oz for 2 or 3 months. There were only 1000 made on vinyl and what is for sale now is crazy prices from people that pre-ordered at the start and are reselling trying to make money. I haven't opened mine but a friend did, not the best sound quality but better than a lot of bootlegs. I have asked them to bring it to my house sometime so I can play it my record player, maybe there's is not so good, quite a few of my bootlegs have pretty good sound considering the age of most of them. If mine is the quality of what I heard then I won't complain even though I don't intend to ever open mine. I'm starting to get tempted to sell off my Aero collection before we buy a new house, it takes up a lot of space even packed away let alone when I try and display it.

Am I the only one who is scratching his head as to why/how a bootleg release is getting high(er) profile media attention?
I thought that was the whole point of a "bootleg." It's an illegal, underground copy of a live show put out by a company that doesn't have the rights to do so.

Back then a double vinyl went for about $15 and these started at around $70. It could be very lucrative for a band to help out the bootleggers for a cut, don't you think?
