Steven Tyler -- If I Read Joe Perry's Book ... It's Gonna Be War (VIDEO)52 minutes ago BY TMZ STAFF EXCLUSIVE Steven Tyler Joe Perry BookSteven Tyler's not trying to derail the gravy train that is Aerosmith ... which is why he doesn't want to know if he gets slammed in guitarist Joe Perry's new autobiography. We asked Steven outside Bar Louie in Nashville Wednesday night ... if he's gonna read the book, and his answer was pretty simple -- "HELL NO!" Check out the clip though -- his explanation kinda explains how he and Joe have kept the band together for 44 years. On the other hand -- Steven also said he loves bossing around his band mates ... which should go over well during their next tour. Well, probably a smart thing not to read each others books. The quip about "loving to boss his band mates," seems one of those jests wrapped in truth. But we all knew that.

Gotta love TMZ.... wasn't it only a couple of weeks back they said Steven was seriously pissed about Johnny Depp writing the forward of Joe's book since he was the one that brought him to the studio and introduced him to Joe to start with....

He needs to get over himself. There is nothing that bad about him in the book. Joe just expressed how he truly feels about him. And no Steven, Joe did read your book.

This is total lip service. ST is way too narcissistic to be able to resist reading what Joe has to say about him. He's probably read it already!

I'm sure he already read it too or had his "assistant" read it to him. I can imagine him going straight to the index when he got it and reading every line referencing him. LOL

Too bad Steven didn't read his own book. BEFORE it was published.

I really don't know what Steven would get mad about, the book isn't bad at all. In fact the chapter "Brotherhood" is actually very nice and compliments their relationship.

That he had to be pushed so much to write lyrics isn't very flattering and honestly not something I want to know. I still think they have more meaning than a lot of people here (not just thrown together words), but they did mean a lot to me as a kid and I want to believe he put through into them. This really was the only thing in the book I thought hit hard but it is a huge thing. ST book was full of shit like this and why I put it down and finally threw it away.

Well that and how sometimes it's impossible to know if Steven is lying or not. Plus the situation with the Zeppelin tryout didn't paint Steven in a very flattering light.

I'm only about halfway through the book but from what I've read he paints Steven in a very good light with some flaws that can hurt others but helped the band get its sound. I haven't read anything that made me really dislike Steven and in fact some of the things Joe writes make me like Steven more, like how Steven was there to help Joe in difficult times I'm sure Steven was joking by saying that but the media is trying to stir up some stuff which really isn't there.

The lyric thing really wasn't news to me. It seems like I've seen it discussed, maybe in an article, a video clip, or maybe it was in Walk this Way (the book). Joe's book went into more detail on this than I'd heard before but it actually confirmed some things, primarily that this, more than the music itself, was the reason for bringing in outsiders. And I've even heard Steven talking about the lyric issue. I remember him talking about writing "Dude" and collaborating with Desmond Child on the lyrics and how that made it much easier for him.

The Zeppelin thing, and then not telling his bandmates about Idol to me were probably the two least flattering items about Steven. And frankly, they really did not surprise me either.

I finished the book a couple of weeks ago. There wasn't much I hadn't already heard before except maybe some of Joe's personal life. I found it a good read, even though I am Steven fan, I thought both Joey's and Joe's books were much better. I did think Joe had a few goes at Steven but that said, I also thought they were deserved and if Steven doesn't like it then tough titties. I also agree that Steven has read the book or had one of his people read it and summarise any details that Steven may feel he needs to whack Joe with his mic stand next tour for, LOL.
