Here Joey sounds good, sweet emotion and toys are punchy and time locked form what I can hear. Did he have another injury after July? I remember he hurt his shoulder first and then his foot? It's been so messy. I hope it's not a drug issue but that might explain why the band, especially Steven, is keeping him out. Let's hope for the best, Joey is really fundamental to the Aerosmith sound.

This might surpass Sturgis 2009... How do they come back from this... Still I remember the Abu Dhabi show after that was great while Steven was still so pissed and his voice was still not fully recovered after the surgery. I mean he started to sound great only in 2011 after getting sober again.

Joey just wants “…TV Time…?! Are you fucking kidding me? The guy DESERVES to be on stage with the band at the Grammy’s. PERIOD.

This is beyond sad. He should show up anyway, he’s absolutely entitled to be there, and if he’s telling the truth, have the other 4 have a shitty time having to face him live in front of the world. I repeat, IF he's telling the truth. And, if so, release the "audition videos". My thoughts, at least.

This is all on Steven. You know Steven runs the band and Steven hates Joey. Watch the Making of Pump, Steven is harder on Joey than any other band member. I am not excusing the other band members, because they should stand up to Steven, but knowing Steven, he would kick them out of the band if they went against him. That would account for the other band members telling Joey he sounded great.
Joey is just as much a part of the band as Steven and Joe, and if Joey says he’s ready to play, he should play. At the very least Joey should be able to practice for the performances with the band, and have the replacement drummer on stand-by if Joey isn’t up to snuff. But to let things get this far is shameful. If what Joey said is accurate then Tyler can kiss my ass. I’m done with him. A real asshole after 50 years together.

Just wanted to say I've seen youtube videos of Vegas shows with the tech on drums...he sounds average to me. He's definitely not trying to sound like Joey. Which I think sucks. He should copy the feel at least. Or Aerosmith should get a better fill in.

I don't think Steven hates Joey and I don't think this is all his doing. There's definitely more to it.
Anyway the band's response makes also sense. If Joey missed the rehearsals acting unprofessional then I'm not surprised he's in this situation now. A live TV performance is a difficult task they are also performing with other people so having a perfect tempo is essential.

Well 50 years and it's still worse than high school. Guess it really goes to show silence is the Aerosmith camp equals drama.
I see it from both ends. Joey should absolutely be a part of the band but if he keeps "declining" the offer to return then he hardly has anything to complain about. I'm willing to put a pretty penny that "they" refers more to Steven than anything. He's always been over critical of Joey.
With all the musicians of that era dropping like flies I wish they they would just be grateful for the ability to still be able to get up on stage regularly.

I wouldn't say Steven hates Joey and I agree there's probably more to this but with Steven being a drummer and perfectionist himself he was always harder on Joey. Joey spent a good portion of his book detailing that struggle with Steven.
