As long as we're throwing out theories and conspiracies, here's one: The other four are concerned for Joey and tell him, we don't think you should tour anymore at the risk of collapsing/checking out live on stage. Joey fights back, Let's work and imagine around that scenario, why not meet halfway and have Joey play a few songs a night? No one would say anything bad about it, the guy is 70, it's completely understandable that he's not up to a 2 hours show.

Joey did appear to be physically struggling for years, often times looking like he was about to blow a gasket, other times appearing slow and lethargic. I never noticed any major performance issues, but how was he an hour after a show? I doubt he'd take too kindly to any critique from Steven or Joe about his physical well being after some of their past antics. I'm sure he was hearing similar things from his family and close friends. Perhaps he reluctantly agrees, but still wants to point out the hypocrisy from the Aero camp. Slow was one of the words that was used to describe why they were unhappy with him. I myself did not think there were any noticeable issues with his performance at the shows I saw. But I'm not Steven. I definitely don't notice everything that might be wrong during a show and unless it's downright awful, I don't even care much or remember it afterwards. I'm very torn about the whole situation. Let's say that the rest of the band are worried for him and don't want him to do this for his own good. But he's an adult and if he wants to keep on going regardless of risks he's well aware of, that's his choice. Though selfish as that may sound of me, I wouldn't want to be at a show where something happens. I'm grateful I wasn't at the Vampires show where Joe passed out. And yeah... Steven and Joe saying something could obviously trigger a look who's talking kind of reaction.. I can get that Steven and the others feel like they have a band brand to protect, but if I and other fans don't even notice any major issues with Joey's performance... Also... as a fan, I don't really want to believe any of the scenarios that would make them look petty. Btw, I can understand Joey's silence a different way too. He's been in Aerosmith for way longer than I and some other fans here have been alive. His whole identity is tied to being the drummer in Aerosmith. And which is more embarrassing for him - health problems or the rest of the band considering he cannot live up to his identity anymore? He's still plastered all over their website and in merchandise. Some view listing '4' as a swipe at him. For me, and I'm sure a lot of others, before buying tickets to see a band, I always check how many original or long tenured guys will be there. It's often 1 (pass). The Black Crowes only have the 2 brothers. 4 out of 5 being there is still pretty damn impressive, and Aerosmith actually makes it pretty clear JD isn't part of the band. Granted, I haven't seen this video and reserve the right to change my mind after viewing it. But any messages for in show stuff, I get them wanting those to appear off the cuff, which would be from the 4 that are there. This is true too. He's on all the Peace Out shirts that the other members are on and there was never the slightest hint he was replaced as a band member, even if he's not playing live anymore. And yes, 4 out of 5 is still great.

I love that after 50 years none of us really know what Steven says during teh opening line of Seasons hahha.. I am just going to stick with "Blues Hearted Lady" because I like it better hahah.

I didn't know there was any debate, it is "Blues Hearted Lady" as far as I know. I once thought it was "Blues for the lady", but I got over it.

I saw a clip of Seasons from the Vegas residency and the lyrics were on the monitor and it showed Loose Hearted Lady. I always thought it was Blues Hearted too.

Great find zephyr83 . That's quite the first post, solving a 50 year old Aero mystery. Thank you! On a side note, Steven's performance here is awful. Even with the screens all over the place he still screws up almost every verse. Joe uses his hair to cover his eyes so he doesn't even have to look at him. But what's important here is that the lyrics are visible. I copied the Google lyrics below and made the corrections I saw on the monitors. Blues Loose hearted lady sleepy was she Love for the devil brought her to me Tears Seeds of a thousand drawn to her sin Seasons of wither holdin' me in Ooh woe is me I feel so badly for you Ooh woe is me I feel so sadly for you In time bound to lose your mind Live on borrowed time Take the wind right out of your sail Fireflies dance in the heat of Hound dogs that they bay at the moon My ship leaves in the midnight Can't say I'll be back too soon They Be awaken far far away Heat of my candle show me the way Tears Seeds of a thousand drawn to her sin Seasons of wither holdin' me in Ooh woe is me I feel so badly for you Ooh woe is me I feel so sadly for you In time bound to lose your mind Live on borrowed time Take the wind right out of your sail

To be honest, I am not quite sure the lyrics on prompter always match what was originally sang by Steven when recording the album (apart from the fact, as we all well know, it sure as hell doesn't match what he's singing on concerts ). Not only with Seasons, but in general... I am not 100% sure, but I would not be surprised. It might just as well have been "blues" and "tears" originally... just my $0.03

And that, obviously, this is very important for all of us. We probably won't know for sure what went down, at least for some months, maybe years. And guess work will only take us so far, but it was very good to hear different opinions and points of view. I still sustain my objection though, to how little recognition or support he gets from the band recently. Deeds, not words (i.e. merch ). But yeah, perhaps there are legal reasons for it, or he wants to be left alone...

But yeah, perhaps there are legal reasons for it, or he wants to be left alone... Nah, I don't think it got heated. Personally, I'm just sad... Sad that Joey cannot play with them on this tour, regardless of the real reason. Sad because it's finally starting to sink in that, as Joe once said, they're much closer to the end than to the beginning. At the same time, the start of this tour just feels so good. Partly because I'm relieved it started, shows are happening... obviously just 2 out of 40 so far, 95% of the tour still to go... but I'm still so relieved to know they are touring again! And partly because it's a virtual escape for me. I can't be there, but watching the videos still provides an escape from... well, the daily shit. It's not the first time Aerosmith have done that for me, in one way or another... Anyway, I'm really enjoying this escape. Just 2 shows out of 40 so far, but I couldn't be happier with what I got to see and hear from them so far. They've been great. The setlists have been very good. I really like a lot of the details of the stage setup. When I see people write that they loved it, I can only think "yeah, I can see why..." I always thought it was "Seas of a thousand" Me too.. And in my mind it will always be that lol Same. That metaphor just makes so much sense together with "take the wind right out of your sail" - I can actually picture it all in my mind...

That was the least they could have done in this situation... They do have snoopers on the forum and lots of eyes on old AeroFANatic, even though he certainly has simmered down in his old age.
