It’s a bit odd to me that “I’m glad I hope there is more to come” is the highest vote getter yet most of the comments paint MFAD in a mediocre light at best.

This album is really strange. There are some awesome songs on it that stand up pretty good to the 70s material. When they played Oh Yeah and Lover Alot at the Commonwealth show I think those songs held up pretty good with the 70s material. Don't get me wrong...I would rather hear pretty much anything from the 70s over anything on MFAD but there are still some great songs on MFAD. The problem is, the songs on MFAD that are bad, they are really bad and bring the entire album down. I also really like Shaky Ground and I'm Not Talking. I also enjoyed Up on the Mountain too.
I also think the Diane Warren song is worse than IDWTMAT.

There are several mediocre songs, a couple I don't like, and one that I outright hate (Can't Stop Loving You - UGH), but there are several I also really enjoy. I think MFAD was much better than JPP. I wish Steven and Joe worked together more and would get rid of Marti. I think the focus would be better, but that's JMO.

I'd personally like more in terms of live stuff.

I'm glad they did it. It showed, albeit in tiny slices, that they could put out a decent set of rock songs if they really wanted to. Whether that will ever be the case I don't know. There's a few songs off MFAD that I like enough to seek out on occasion and some that I wouldn't skip if they came on. It wasn't that bad, but they could have done so much better.

I'd personally like more in terms of live stuff. Why waist precious setlist time on songs that too many are mediocre and a lot of people don’t want to hear.

I guess I have to be logged into a PC in able to see the poll. Doesn't show up on my mobile device.
As for my feelings about MFAD now that a few years have passed-I'm indifferent to it now. I don't go out of my way to listen to anything on it, and honestly if Legendary Child comes up on my iPod I'm more likely to skip it for a better track off of an earlier album.

I meant I want them to release more live stuff, not that I want more stuff from MFAD in the set, lol. Though I wouldn't mind a few of the MFAD songs bringing a breath of fresh air. Of course, instead of stuff like IDWMAT or Criyn'...

It’s a bit odd to me that “I’m glad I hope there is more to come” is the highest vote getter yet most of the comments paint MFAD in a mediocre light at best. For me its like I already stated - I'm glad to have a few new songs that I like in my Aero vault to choose from. I don't think the fact that it 'dilutes their catalog' holds any relevance, given all the ways it has been diluted already. And who cares anyway? Its not like these are our children who are holding up liquor stores. If they can live with themselves, thats all that matters. If they hadn't released MFAD, I wouldn't have Street Jesus or ALG and a few others to listen to, and I would consider that a real loss. The fact that I can still get a few truly good songs (IMO) from my favorite band after all this time is something that I'm very grateful for. Of course it would have been great if the whole album was packed full of gems, but I'm not going to throw out the baby with the bath water, so to speak. And I hope they release another album for the same reason, it may give me one or two more songs to enjoy, as opposed to zero if they don't release more.

I'd personally like more in terms of live stuff. Me too, as long as it was live stuff of their old stuff. With so much great old unplayed stuff, I'm with Bartman by not wanting any set list space in their live shows diluted by mediocre (or worse) new stuff.

It’s a bit odd to me that “I’m glad I hope there is more to come” is the highest vote getter yet most of the comments paint MFAD in a mediocre light at best. I think that's the nature of the something for everybody album the band was going for. For the most part everyone has a few songs they like, but then will feel there's not enough of those songs on the album. For $12 I feel I more than got my money's worth and hope there is more to come. Like AeroCooper, I don't really buy into the diluting their catalog argument. They have a ton of great songs, so the bar's already set pretty high, but I like seeing them take on the challenge of adding to their arsenal. Even if it doesn't measure up with their classic stuff, seeing them attempt something that is fairly unique is kinda cool. Not sure the effort was fully there this time around but I still see the potential. Stop trying to recreate the 90's power ballards and spend some more time on the lyrics and I think we'll see some good things. Another factor is the music scene in general these days. I really haven't heard anything I've liked lately.

I think JP said in one of the recent interviews that they keep playing the same stuff over and over because it might be someones first concert and it would be a drag to not hear one of those songs. But I don't think even new young fans grab hold of only WTW or SE and so on........There is a reason U2 fill stadiums. Aerosmith has had as many hits, sold as many records and they are certainly better in concert than U2 in general and certainly to anyone who is an Aerosmith fan. So why don't they fill stadiums also? Setlist? Too much US touring?

Yes, and yes.
And, waiting way too long to release new music. To the point where anticipation became lack of interest, and an end product that elicited a resounding yawn in the industry.
