They have more fans than Aerosmith.
While I agree over touring in the 2000's is art of the reason Aeroattendace has beed down at various points. But the main reason is as stated above. They have more fans than Aerosmith.

They have more fans than Aerosmith. Of course U2 had to resort to forcing their music onto people's IPhones. I was working out the other day and all of a sudden this music came on I never heard before. I was like WTF? And then looked down and saw it was from that U2 album that magically appeared on my phone a few weeks ago.

Resort to nothing they found an innovative way to get music into their fans hands and still get paid for it. Like I said in another thread it’s the next logical step from the exclusively sold at wallmart deals that the handful of album oriented artist that are left have used. Now sorry you were encumbered by songs that magically appeared on your phone, even though there was a huge marketing campaign about it. The 3 to 5 seconds it must have took to skip past those songs you and others didn't want and don’t ever have to listen to again must truly have been a hardship it’s got me all misty eyed.

U2's kind of a crappy comparison. They pretty much only write the kind of music everyone here bashes Aerosmith for targeting soccer moms and dentist offices.
Forcing songs onto people's devices, starting a charity for people starving in Africa, then not using that money to help them and justify it by saying they were "raising awareness". It's all cool though because Bono uses Apple products, wears sunglasses at all times and flails his arms around like a wounded duck.

Well if both bands write songs targeting soccer moms etc. Then that makes them an excellent comparison not a bad one.
U2 & Bono are a ridiculously wealthy the notion that they pocket any of the money they raise for charity is a joke not quite as bad as all the pouting over having songs “forced” on to peoples’ devices songs that can so very easily be ignored.

I must have missed all the pouting. I guess I also missed the big campaign they put together before the dropped their songs into people's iPhones. But like I said, no hardship here. Nothing to cry about. I don't even mind U2 all that much but I prefer to choose my own songs for my iPod/iPhone.

I voted glad. Not really sure why, I don't particularly "like" the album but hope they can use it as a stepping stone to a better album. So, I guess the second part of the question baited me to vote "glad". Also the DVD was good, and I loved the poster that came with the album (still trying to find a frame for it)...
Luv XXX - a waste of an awesome riff. Bad lyrics Oh yeah- good little rock song. Beautiful - sucks! Tell Me - Bad Out Go The Lights - love it, especially the harmonica solo. Legendary Child - really like this one. What Could Have Been Love - ok Lil ballad Street Jesus - ok song Can't Stop Lovin You - sucks Lover Alot - this one I like We Fall Down - absolutely terrible, garbage, and downright an embarrassment! Freedom Fighter- I like the patriotic lyrics but falls flat. Closer - sucks Something - not bad Another Last Goodbye - ok ballad

The only pouting I see you pouting over people not wanting U2 automatically showing up on their playlists. It's a message board, people point out things they don't like, it's not pouting. As for the charity thing, that's some funny logic. Everybody knows rich people are content with their money and never act greedy and strive for more. That sounds like a pretty shady "charity" to me. Anyhow, that's enough about U2.

This is a really great question, it's weird that I was so disappointed by the album but at the same time glad it came out. I agree with a lot of other's assessments of the songs so I'm probably not contributing much but:
Luv xxx: It could've been such a good song! The lyrics are just so lame, "love three times a day"? That's the best Steven could come up with? When I listen to the riff I feel like it could've been a cool career reflecting song lyrically, like No Surpize
Oh Yeah: Not bad, I like the guitar tone a lot and the riff has that nice chunkiness to it, reminds me of a Rolling Stones song instrumentally wise. The lyrics aren't great but they don't ruin the song to me
Beautiful: I think it was Brad who said the song could've just been an instrumental which I really agree with. I love the drums especially on this and the bass on the chorus is really cool, it honestly could've just been called "Liftoff" or something for a title and left as an instrumental, because it sounds like a space shuttle going off
Tell Me: I go back and forth on this one, I like the idea of it and I kind of like the lyrics, but it just kind of plods along. Would've much preferred Up on the Mountain if Tom wanted a song for the album than this one making it
Out Go The Lights: I like it, good jam and riff, not a totally amazing song but I like it
Legendary Child: If it wasn't for those stupid "whoas"!! One of the better songs lyrically I think for this album (except that stupid sticks and stones line).
What Could Have Been Love: Just a purely manufactured and stupid song. I have no idea where it's even going lyrically, it sounds like lyrics from other love songs just listed off and if it wasn't for Steven's voice I wouldn't even be able to tell it was an Aerosmith song
Street Jesus: I like it, it wasn't as great as it was built up to be but by far my favorite lyrically on the album, Steven actually sounds like he tried to think of good lyrics
Can't Stop Lovin You: Ugh. I actually think it's decent instrumentally but just embarrassing with the forced country sound (I really dislike country music too)
Lover Alot: Possibly my greatest guilty pleasure Aerosmith song. I really enjoy it for some reason, the chorus is just insane (no one ever thought maybe it's just a tad too repetitive?) but I love the ferocity of it, the riff is just heavy and Joey's drumming is awesome, surprisingly good live I thought too
We All Fall Down: Good... God... Just beyond lame.
Freedom Fighter: I like the riff, lyrics are ok, Joe just cannot sing and those damn "whoas"!!! Instead of those stupid "whoas", why not a harmonica part, like the guitar squeal, harmonica, guitar, harmonica, it would've been really cool!
Closer: So lame! The only part I like is the end guitar solo, but just awful
Something: Again, I like the idea of it more than how it actually turned out. I love the guitar on this and Steven's sloppy drumming is kind of cool in a way. But I remember way long ago in a behind the scenes video of the making of this album they played a short clip of them jamming to this but it had Steven singing something else (it was like a half a second of singing) and it seemed way more interesting, but hard to tell from a half a second of singing...
Another Last Goodbye: I like it, the only ballad that seemed genuine on this album
Sorry for the long post, but another thing I hate so much on this album is the production, what the hell was going on?! It sounds like it was recorded in ten completely different places and times, why isn't it more consistent? Some of the songs sound pretty well recorded and others sound really thin and cheap! Was it a deliberate choice? I've never heard an album so all over the place production wise, why is it sometimes the drums sound really loud and booming and other songs they're really thin sounding (compare Lover Alot and Freedom Fighter for instance) or the guitars, on songs like Oh Yeah or Legendary Child they're recorded really well but on Street Jesus and Closer they sound really tinny

Eh,album blows big time..band has been in decline since DWM except for a few bumps like PUMP and HOB but yeah, no creative juice pretty much, vapid songwriting, shame since the musicianship is much improved since the 70's ...but yeah..getting older..pandering to record labels and not being high as a kite hurt them artistically.
What a shame that they are the poster boys for being the band that has no artistic integrity and abandoned their original fan base.
Sucks for Brad Tom and Joey but they COULD have spoken up.

I know that a lot of their original fan base left years ago, long before even Just Push Play which I think is far worse than MFAD. But Brad, Tom, and Joey are as much a part of the band as Joe and Steven so I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say it sucks for them. I suppose they all could have spoken up, but who says they didn't? They did all contribute to the album. Tom even got to sing one of his own songs on the bonus track.

Of course I am glad they did it ......as has been said in this thread and others, there is a lot of junk on the album (What Could Have Been Love, Freedom Fighter, We All Fall Down, Closer, Cant Stop Loving You, Luv XXX)
There are a few songs that I can take from this release that to me are good Aerosmith songs...clearly not of the same quality as say Back in the Saddle or Lord of the Thighs....but songs that I would enjoy listening to and put up against say Eat the Rich or Permanent Vacation
These songs from MFAD would be:
Out Go the Lights Legendary Child Street Jesus Lover Alot Im Not Talkin Shaky Ground Another Last Goodbye
Maybe they aren't suited for full-length albums anymore, but I would be disappointed if the band never released another new song

If they don’t release a new album but do put out songs periodically will we get stuff like Street Jesus and Out Go The Lights or turds like WCHBL, Can’t Stop Loving You and We All Fall Down?

I hope the next record has only vocals, drums, bass , guitar and maybe a little keyboards. From the 90s onwards, they've added layers and layers of sounds that take away from the music. OGTL, Luv XXX and SJ had great potential but the production and longevity of the songs kinda ruined it.
