If this is all true, which it looks more likely that this is true, and not a publicity stunt, this is devastating to the band. Go look at Aerosmith’s social media...facebook especially, the band is getting barbecued and I am glad. You can’t tell me Joey can’t play WTW, Sweet E, or Dream On like he has the last 50 years. They could have had the backup drummer ready to fill in if he wasn’t up to snuff. Bottom line is this should have never got this far. The whole thing with this 50 year anniversary tour is they are just about the only band out there with all five of their original members in the line up. Now, on the biggest stage, they don’t have the 5 original members. Without Joey, there’s no Aerosmith, they are just the Smith’s...and I don’t even want them sharing my last name so they are just Aero. LOL! With all due respect dude, how do you know what Joey is capable of? You don’t. It’s more logical to assume that he has some serious issues prohibiting him from playing at an acceptable level. I don’t know if that’s true, but I have to assume the band knows if it’s true or not. Four guys who have known him and played with him for 50 years don’t think he’s capable of playing live. Isn’t their opinions worth more than yours, mine and every other asshole with an opinion? Everyone should stop speculating on shit they know nothing about, especially all the lame assholes across the internet that don’t know shit about the band.

To me this Grammy thing without Joey begs the question as to why the band is insisting on playing even though their drummer isnt better. I wish they'd just cancel this performance and perform as one band instead. If they are truly a brotherhood and care they would wait for Joey's recovery and then perform together. I suppose too much money is there to be made though. I think its weird as heck to have a 50th anniversary performance with a different band member.

I'm glad to see Joey appears to be de-escalating the situation in the latest TMZ video, saying he's going tomorrow to spread the love and he never left the band.
Speaking of TMZ, the NH morning show had a call with TMZ owner Harvey Levin yesterday morning. He was on to promote some royal family show, but at the end he talked about the Joey situation and the coverage. He said the video with Joey getting denied entrance wasn't TMZ's and he thought Joey filmed it. He didn't dwell on that point much, but I also think it appears staged. The guards saying they were hired by the other 4 guys... Doesn't the band have stooges to handle that? I can't imagine they are personally hiring and two door men with the specific instructions to not let Joey in.
There's a lot of interesting info in the court docs, the one part I didn't like was "Aerosmith band members Whitford, Hamilton, Perry and Tyler aver that Kramer's drum performance has been deficient for several years and that Aerosmith's performance has been significantly improved by Douglas's presence as the band's drummer." Between this and the rehab with an addiction counselor back in November December, it seems like Joey is in a bit of vicious cycle and both are a cause and effect of the other.
Hopefully he is determined to be the best version of Joey Kramer that he can be, and he is given a realistic path to rejoin the band.

I have an idea. Steven can play the drums and Joey can sing. After all, Steven is an old drummer.

Let’s play if I were the judge in this case...this is what I would have done. I would have set up a drum kit along with a couple of guitars and a bass, and of course a microphone. I would have had an independent sound technician come in and I would have had the band with Joey perform 3 songs. The band would now know what 3 songs until I told them in court. The songs would be chosen for a reason...the first would be Walk This Way, obviously this is the song that they will be playing at the Grammy’s and it’s also a classic “pop” song that they have all been playing for the better part of 50 years.
The next song would be “Dream On.” Again, this is a song the band has been playing for almost 50 years at every show they’ve ever done with the exception on maybe a handful of shows if that. It’s also a ballad.
The final song would be “Lord of the Thighs.” A rocker that features Joey in the spot light. Once they did the performance, I would have the sound tech analyze the performance and give his or her expert opinion. If the sound person came back that any of the other band members were “off” and Joey was at an acceptable level for a pro band I would rip the band for this and order that Joey would perform. If it was obvious that Joey was struggling and wasn’t up to par, obviously I would have to dismiss Joey’s suit, if the entire band was off I would maybe suggest they might want to cancel the gig or maybe the band should get replacements for all the band members that were off. LOL!

I don’t know if anyone watched the grammys but they sucked. Joe can’t play and Steven is clearly losing his voice. They were horrible. Plus are you kidding me? Joey Kramer on his death bed could have played two seconds of Edge and WTW. Smh.

Joey Kramer on his death bed could have played two seconds of Edge and WTW. Smh. I was thinking the same thing. I don’t see how playing those songs could have required that much practice, especially for somebody like Joey who’s been playing them for decades. I bet they were just pissed at Joey for another reason.

I thought they sounded fine. I would have preferred they did a couple more songs in the medley, but that would have required a longer time slot than they were alloted. I wasn't going to sit thorugh all that other nonsense waiting for them either. I periodically checked Twitter, then when I saw they had finished I went back and found it on my DVR.
They're obviously not 30 or 40 anymore, but if I didn't know, whatching them play I wouldn't guess anywhere close to 70.

They are getting crushed on twitter. People are asking how they could bring out an embarrassing performance like Aerosmith after Billie Eilish’s iconic performance. Another person asked how that would have been any worse if they let Joey perform. They deserve the bashing.
